Korea has so many legit child actors that the anticipation of watching them mature and step into leading roles increases with each successive project. But having the acting chops doesn’t mean there are that many suitable transition roles for them. Yoo Seung Ho is in the military now but his acting career in the last 3 years is best described … Continue reading →
Never fear, I’m still recapping King Flower. It hasn’t pissed me off to the extent I’m forced to stop recapping for the sake of my sanity (see Miss Rose), though episode 14 was by and large a narrative throwaway. But the preview for episode 15? Holy cow the shit is about to hit the fan, and I for one want … Continue reading →
As much as I’m enthralled with the current universe of Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love, I am seriously on pins and needles waiting for second male lead Jae Hee to show up. And based on the just released stills from SBS, Chi Soo orabeoni is showing up next week! I bet he’s going to up the pathos significantly and become a … Continue reading →
There have been plenty of disappointments this year already in the K-drama world, but none quite reach the level of IRIS 2. The biggest budget in the history of K-drama (consider it inflation from the IRIS and Athena: Goddess of War days), a sprawling cast, a hopping location shoot, and a franchise that is far from storied but did bring … Continue reading →
Uhm Tae Woong must be in a sageuk mood, because he’s trading one for another just to satisfy that craving. He’s been attached to the SBS remake of the biography of Admiral Yi Soon Shin for what feels like forever, and clearly something was up with that drama because the production was definitely taking forever. Uhm Tae Woong may be … Continue reading →
So my growing obsession with Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love is starting to gain steam and this might hit runaway train status faster than any drama in my watching-blogging history. I need to slow myself down before I get my heart broken in the off chance the show starts sucking. I do have a tiny bit of comfort knowing … Continue reading →
When I do posts about press conferences I normally top it with a picture of the pretty OTP, or the fashionable four leads, or even the entire sprawling cast. I have yet to lead with a picture of the two males leads, and I thought I would reserve that honor for the day Korea did a drama about the love … Continue reading →
I’m not shy about posting casting rumors (with the requisite caveats, of course) because it sheds light on the casting thought process. Back on April 1 I wrote that Jung Yong Hwa was in talks to join Lee Min Ho in Heirs as guy 2, which was bandied about earlier than Park Shin Hye being cast as the leading lady. … Continue reading →
Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love owns my mind, heart, and soul. This is the trifecta of a drama hitting it out of the park, and as this drama’s ratings continue to dip in Korea, my love for it continues to increase with each exquisite and exceptional new episode. This keeps getting better and better, and right now Lee Soon … Continue reading →
This is the end of the line for me on Gu Family Book recaps. Maybe I’ll continue with the baby recaps if the episodes remain as ludicrous as this one, with characters and plot elements written with the subtlety of a sledgehammer pretending to be carving an ice sculpture. There is a certain amusement in pointing out the absurdity, though … Continue reading →
Chingus, I think I have found my new k-drama crack. And considering it’s NOT the drama I thought would be my crack, I’m alternating between consternation and bewilderment. How did Gu Family Book, my most anticipated drama of this Spring season, end up being so meh? How did Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love, the drama that was on track … Continue reading →
I know a certain dongsaeng of mine might have her brain explode once she lays eyes on these new stills from Im Joo Hwan from the May edition of Elle Korea magazine. Hot damn has he come back from military service oh so fine. He’s been relatively low key since his return a few months ago, changing agencies so that … Continue reading →
After I vented about Seo Hwa last week I got all my frustration about her whiplash characterization out of my system and now I feel so much better about diving back into Gu Family Book. It’s like having a good fight and then moving on rather then letting things build up inside. The drama does dispense with the parents story … Continue reading →
