With his upcoming fantasy sageuk Gu Family Book about to start filming any day now, Lee Seung Gi better get his singing bug out of his system before them because he’ll be wrapped up for the next 4 months pretending to be a half man-half beast warrior hottie for my enjoyment. This weekend songstress Baek Ji Young held a concert … Continue reading →
Now that this week’s new drama’s IRIS 2 and That Winter, The Wind Blows have both premiered to decent ratings and given a glimpse of what it has to offer, it’s now time to move on to the next big thing because our collective consciousness requires the unending download of new information. Premiering on March 18th on SBS taking over … Continue reading →
OMG, I can’t even. It will take me ages to unsee this new look on my baby Shin Won Ho. This is like Jang Geun Seok with more volume and curls. Or maybe Noh Min Woo from Full House 2 but with less frizz. This is why I don’t follow boy bands, people. The penchant for stylists to inflict follicle … Continue reading →
Is anyone watching the daily Taiwan drama Love, Now or the weekly drama Love Me or Leave Me? LN is the cute drama with Annie Chen playing a workaholic who is falsely told she is about to die and she jets overseas and has a torrid love affair and marries George Hu, only to return to Taipei and learn it … Continue reading →
What? I can’t hear you over the CUTENESS OVERLOAD that is Kim Soo Hyun and Suzy for the Spring collection of sportswear brand Beanpole. When I posted last week about all these sportswear brands like K2, Kolon Sport, et. al, I realized that the craze has even spread to the teen and young adult market with Beanpole using the Dream … Continue reading →
What fantastic unexpected casting news! IRIS 2 has a good 20-episodes to burn through so it won’t wrap up until early April. Of course its never too early to cast the follow up drama, which I’ve long heard was going to be sageuk Heaven’s Order (or Fate of Heaven). With his Strong Heart MC gig just ended, actor Lee Dong … Continue reading →
I can’t believe Flower Boy Next Door is nearing its end. It started right at the beginning of 2013 and once again time has gotten away from me and it’s already mid-February. When can someone invent a time freezing device? Watching Dok Mi choose a solitary life of routine and writing makes me wonder if one can slow down and … Continue reading →
I’ve made no attempt to sugarcoat just how stupid a drama Ring Ring Bell is, and conversely I am more than happy to shout from the rooftops about how winning the two leads Janine Chang and Peter Ho were in that dumber than bricks drama. But a crucial factor in their chemistry was that they played against type – Peter … Continue reading →
The first stills of the upcoming weekend K-drama The Best Lee Soon Shin are out. The drama is scheduled to premiere on March 9th taking over the time slot from the ratings juggernaut My Daughter Seo Young so this sounds just about right. Starring IU in her first lead role (and just her second drama), Jo Jung Seok (also his … Continue reading →
Now that That Winter, The Wind Blows did something new in airing the first two episodes back-to-back yesterday and then episode 3 today, I might become spoiled and want all future K-dramas to premiere this way. I think it worked well because the first two episodes were nicely cohesive in setting up the entire premise, and now episode 3 slowed … Continue reading →
The modern mores of beauty increasingly distress me, with a fear that future generations will only know it as a homogeneity of looks achieved under the knife to conform to a certain standard. Wide manga heroine eyes, knife blade sharp cheekbones, artificial plumped up picker, blindingly white veneers, ramrod straight and high noses with tiny nostrils, a perfectly pointy chin … Continue reading →
Watch. This. Drama. Now. I wish I could end this recap right here, but alas there is so much awesome in episode 2 I don’t even know where to start. Now this is what I call finger lickin’ good melodrama! I questioned SBS‘s decision to air two back-to-back episodes of That Winter, The Wind Blows, which was clearly an attempt … Continue reading →
The Wed-Thurs primetime K-drama battle is back on this week with some low-rated dramas finally ending last week and two potential powerhouse contenders joining the race. I saw the real time ratings and it’s neck-to-neck today, so the final ratings will probably have IRIS 2 leading the pack slightly, with That Winter, the Wind Blows a notch below, and 7th Level … Continue reading →
