Now that the August new prime time weekday K-dramas have all premiered, and only one really strikes my fancy, it’s time for me to wholeheartedly look forward to Nice Guy which doesn’t premiere until September. If Arang and the Magistrate does well, NG may have an uphill battle to climb in a few weeks playing catch up, but I think … Continue reading →
Everyone knows my actors biases so whenever I can cram my faves together for any reason I go for it. I posted last week about the 12 K-actors selected for Vogue Korea’s 16th Anniversary edition, and each of the 12 actors were featured in one still each. Turns out the magazine actually had details spreads on each of the actors … Continue reading →
Kim Hyun Joong‘s upcoming K-drama City Conquest has been filming without being picked up by a network or given a time slot yet, but I don’t think it has much to worry about. I’m more concerned about how it’ll all turn out – the ideal would be to emulate City Hunter, and the worst case scenario would be to become … Continue reading →
It sounds like the magic of Miss Rose will soon be available to the non-native Chinese speakers who want to enjoy the cute quippiness of this drama. I’m so happy since so much of what makes this drama fun to watch is hearing Roy Qiu‘s unique cadence as he spit out his lines with this wry exasperation mixed with curiosity. … Continue reading →
I didn’t post about the Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung dating rumors back in April because both sides quickly denied it and I figured that if it was true they would reveal it when they were ready otherwise quietly break up and none would be the wiser. My gut instinct told me it was true since it was … Continue reading →
I’m having too much fun on my vacation that episode 6’s general crapitude doesn’t bother me anymore, other than a sense of what-could-have-been with Rich Man, Poor Woman‘s story development. I don’t need the OTP to get together or even the story to be romance-focused as opposed to toggling office-driven plot twists, what I do need is for whatever is … Continue reading →
Before Song Joong Ki was a Nice Guy, he was first a werewolf boy in the upcoming PD Jo Sung Hee directed A Werewolf Boy (literal title is Wolfboy). The movie has been officially selected to show at the Toronto International Film Festival so an English movie poster and trailer has just been released. Song Joong Ki co-stars with one … Continue reading →
I feel like every post of mine about Miss Rose is me talking to myself, since pretty much no one else is watching it since its not being subbed. Oh well, I do enjoy sharing secret little pleasures of mine with other drama lovers, though the inability to have flailing discussions for how much awesome this drama is does dampen … Continue reading →
Do you feel your heart thumping? That is an indication that one is alive. My heart thumps, pumps, and freaking goes berserk when I watch Arang and the Magistrate. This drama is perfectly amazing, so funny and thrilling that I find myself holding my breath at times. I’m invested in both the overarching narrative (the mystery of Arang’s identity plus … Continue reading →
The Taipei Film Festival was held in July and once again highlighted talented actors, directors, and producers of the very quirky local movie industry. Normally I don’t pay much attention, except for when one of my favorite TW-actors Joseph Chang winning Best Actor for a bravura performance in Boyfriend Girlfriend (with his co-star Bryan Chang also winning Best Supporting Actor … Continue reading →
When one of my favorite actresses attends an event like a film festival red carpet, I’m always thrilled to check out the pictures and see what she wears. Love it or hate it, critiquing fashion is lots of fun because its so subjective and ultimately a frothy way to pass time. Yoon Eun Hye was at JIMFF last week (Jecheon International … Continue reading →
How should I describe Arang and the Magistrate after one episode? Give it a better name? It can be called Run, Arang, Run! with how much Arang has been running in one episode alone. Or maybe The Ghost and I? Or how about I Love You Drama, Marry Me? If there was such a thing as love at first sight … Continue reading →
Date, date, date! I love how Miss Rose continues to take the most squeeworthy City Hall OTP elements and spinning their own twist on it. Those who have seen CH know that two scenes in MR episode 3 were quite iconic comedic CH scenes. The first was the scene where Cheng Kuan voluntarily pretends to be Si Yi’s boyfriend in … Continue reading →
