SETTV‘s upcoming idol drama Drunken to Love You starring Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang has tapped two very intriguing second leads. This will be second male lead Kingone Wang‘s third drama with Rainie, and will also mark his third time not getting Rainie in a drama. Second female lead is Tiffany Hsu, who has lately gotten more publicity for being Ethan … Continue reading →
49 Days continues to have splotches of interesting moments fraught with tension and/or deeper purpose, but those moments are interspersed here and there without coalescing into a cohesive and fast-paced narrative. Episode 5 gives me a vague feeling of the story and the characters doing and saying things, but it doesn’t translate into a bigger picture. Which really has been an ongoing … Continue reading →
The cast of the upcoming MBC weekend drama Can You Hear My Heart held its press conference yesterday. I can’t even begin to critique the fashion statements being made, which would be akin to saying a rainbow quilt looks too busy. It’s like everyone forgot about the press conference and was headed to run errands, and then got abducted one-by-one and … Continue reading →
I am by no means a creative person, so when you ask me to conjure up scenarios for my favorite stars to be photographed in, I’d be the first to toss my hand in the air. However, that doesn’t mean I can’t tell when a concept is wacky, leaving the viewer laughing at the product rather than with it. My … Continue reading →
Tea? Someone thought of the brilliant plan to pair up Vic Zhou and Ariel Lin just to sell tea? Oh my lord, my head hurts because I want so much more than that. However inane and fleeting, the pairing up of my two favorite TW-actors back in 2008 is like a Koala’s dream come true. If I won the lottery, … Continue reading →
Mangas, or Japanese comic books, were my first source of entertainment. Before I watched my first TV show, I read my first manga. More than a quarter of a century’s worth of manga reading has made this medium my most knowledgeable subject matter (yes, it may appear I know a lot about dramas, but that is just an illusion). The … Continue reading →
I must say that the sight of a handsome man with a duster in his hand is strangely alluring. I have no clue why Han Kang is cleaning, but if it continues to be relevant to moving the plot forward in 49 Days, then by all means clean away! In all the previews I’ve translated this week, there is not … Continue reading →
It’s a done deal! After a week or so of mostly confirmed MBC reports, news outlets are now fully reporting that the upcoming Hong Sisters drama Best Love (formerly The Discovery of Affection) will star Cha Seung Won, Gong Hyo Jin, Yoon Kye Sang, and Yoo In Na. Whew, I didn’t realize I was holding this pent up breath until … Continue reading →
For the past year, Lee Seung Gi and Lee Min Jung have been the spokescouple for the Kolon Sports brand (which I’m assuming is the rival sports brand to the Eider brand represented by Jang Hyuk and PIE). I’m not much of a nature gal, though I do love sports. The thought of camping, hiking, and sundry other outdoorsy activities … Continue reading →
SBS picked up Paradise Ranch instead of this? Group 8 released the full-length trailer (25 minutes in length) for its fully-completed sports drama Birdie Buddy, starring UEE, Lee Yong Woo, and Lee Da Hee. It doesn’t look that bad. Really, I’ve seen far worse trailers (and end result dramas). But you shouldn’t take my word for it, since I am … Continue reading →
I find myself in a lull between dramas when nothing excites me, and 49 Days is the perfect easygoing drama to follow at this time. While I grouse about the things I find lacking about it (so far), it nevertheless has been a breezy watch that leaves me curious about the greater story to be told while never anxiously awaiting … Continue reading →
Flames of Desire finished its fifty-episode run today (I still need to marathon the second half of the drama once I get myself in the mood for Shakespearen makjang awesomeness), and MBC released a second trailer for the upcoming Can You Hear My Heart. I don’t know why this drama inexplicably intrigues me, there is just something about the tone … Continue reading →
After winning Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards (Taiwan’s Oscars), Ethan Ruan‘s next project has the source of much speculation. He’s apparently going the way of Wu Zun, whose last two movie projects have been wuxia historicals (14 Blades and the upcoming Da Wu Sheng). Ethan has been tapped as one of the two leading men, the other is Huang … Continue reading →
