Well I definitely know a hit when I see one and this one is starting off the summer 2022 season with a bang for C-dramas. A Dream of Splendor (Meng Hua Lu) with Crystal Liu and Chen Xiao premiered on June 2 and in a few short days has inked only positive news. The drama is wildly popular breaking streaming … Continue reading →
Why am I not surprised in the least that K-actress Jang Nara continues to have her life in seamless order. A day after she announced her month end June 2022 wedding to her boyfriend of two years who is six years younger than her, her agency confirmed that she’s also signed on for a new K-drama. It’s called family and … Continue reading →
The SBS–MBC Fri-Sat drama showdown for the next two months was off to the races this weekend and had close first episode ratings but the second episode is widening the gap thanks to a different trajectory ratings move. Doctor Lawyer dropped a good 1% to a low 4.2% while Why Her increased up to 6.5%. I heard Doctor Lawyer is … Continue reading →
This sounds serious and gritty and now has a fantastic leading man. K-actor Lee Sun Kyun is coming back to the small screen either later in 2022 or beginning 2023 with the K-drama The Law. It tells the story of a money broker who plots revenge and takedown against a gang cartel. It comes from movie director Lee Won Tae … Continue reading →
The top J-actresses appear to have a stranglehold in the audience love for the past decade and probably even earlier almost 15 years. A top J-news publication held a poll of viewers to pick their top J-actress of 2022. To no surprise Ayasa Haruka continues her perch in the top spot followed by Aragaki Yui second and Nagasawa Masami rounding … Continue reading →
April and May was light for me on dramas to follow and one reason was that tvN Sat-Sun drama Shooting Star (Sh**ting Stars) was so underwhelming. It may have gotten better but I didn’t like the first two episodes and that was enough for me. I did tune in from time to time to check out the parade of K-ent … Continue reading →
K-dramas absolutely have their own structure and flavor and adaptations in and/or out don’t always work. The currently airing SBS drama Woori the Virgin based on the Jane the Virgin series looked highly promising to me when the casting and promos were announced but the airing results remain less than hoped for. It premiered at 4.1% and the most current … Continue reading →
There is such a noted lack of buzz for this weekend’s new dramas but heck, if it’s good then they (the viewers) will come. MBC sees the premiere of Doctor Lawyer with So Ji Sub, who is such an A-list leading man he has to play not one but two professional genius hahaha. He’s a top doctor who loses his … Continue reading →
Some stuff continues to look both cool and anachronistic for upcoming tvN drama Alchemy of Souls. This is one drama I have no clue what to expect and no inkling how it will be received by domestic audiences in Korea in terms of ratings. The latest stills and new character poster is out and from the promo releases this feels … Continue reading →
So it’s off to the races for real with tvN Wed-Thurs Eve, starting with 3.644% ratings in the first episode and now the second episode has come out to 3.700%. That’s staying the same and may actually be a good thing because if the drama didn’t hook the viewers in the first episode to stick around for the second there … Continue reading →
OMG, talk about a June surprise! So much congrats to K-actress Jang Nara, one of those eternally beloved stars in K-ent who is entering the third decade of her acting career and still one of the leading actress mainstays. The 41-year old star announced today that she is marrying her boyfriend who is 6-years younger than her, obviously this age … Continue reading →
Looks like tvN is taking a breather in its Fri-Sat 10:30 time slot, with Shooting Star (Sh**ting Stars) wrapping up soon the network won’t air anything new. Instead on Fridays it will air the anthology series O’PENing with one to two episodes of various stories, and in the Saturday time slot it will air the Park Hae Joon midlife crisis … Continue reading →
At least one drama with Kim Sae Ron in the cast is getting back on track. Upcoming SBS drama Trolley which was slated to start filming parted ways with Kim Sae Ron after her drunk driving incident two weeks ago. She’s now been replaced by relative newbie Chung Soo Bin, who made an impression as one of the adolescent troublemakers … Continue reading →
