I loved horror movies as a kid and teens, no thanks to older siblings that loved it and ergo it was on TV and forced upon me. But it was cool to develop that appetite because a good horror feels tingly, cathartic, and adds to the greater understanding of cinema and storytelling. Not everything is a feel good romance, yeah? … Continue reading →
Streaming service Disney+ is apparently still hemorrhaging viewers in South Korea, due to the lack of comparably large body of works and also nothing super popular with any new projects. But the company is big enough to subsidize a long term investment in the market even if it keeps losing money for the time being, the most net connected country … Continue reading →
The great Song Kang experiment of the last year and a half continues with his upcoming male lead role in jTBC weather station romance Forecasting Love and Weather (Office Romance Cruelty). While viewers may feel female lead Park Min Young has been playing the same role for many dramas in a row now, the capable office worker, Song Kang feels … Continue reading →
I don’t know what brain trust at tvN post-production decided this was a good idea, but on the positive side it may have inadvertently gotten more publicity for this underwhelming and comparatively low rated drama. This Sunday was the final episode of Bulgasal which plenty has been written about how it was so expensive to make and the reception as … Continue reading →
There is a female centric K-drama coming up that sends shivers of awesome down my spine. tvN Wed-Thurs drama Kill Heel drops later this month and portends layers of strong women badassery. I would love if leads Kim Ha Neul, Kim Sung Ryung, and Lee Hye Young team up to battle baddies but alas they are likely gunning for each … Continue reading →
I remember when all those Taiwanese actors and actresses I loved were just late teens to early twenties young adults when they filmed those cracktastic idol dramas like Prince Turned into Frog, It Started with a Kiss, Fated to Love You, Devil Beside You, and so many more. Now that whole crew is mostly married, some with kid(s), and all … Continue reading →
K-actor Kim Min Jae is swapping out the nouveau riche chaebol gamjatang heir for Joseon era scrubs as he’s been confirmed for the tvN series Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong. He plays a success royal acupunturist who leaves the palace after he loses that ability and finds new healing methods in a small village. He partners with Kim Hyang Gi … Continue reading →
I love me a reunion but this recent trend will hopefully not continue because it is a teensy bit squicky. I saw a preview still for upcoming Disney+ romance drama Kiss Sixth Sense with Yoon Kye Sang and Seo Ji Hye and got super excited because I love them both. And then my drama watching memory kicked in and I … Continue reading →
K-actress Park Bo Young is looking ahead in 2022 with a new K-drama and hopefully it will wash away the lackluster picks of her most recent dramas Doom at Your Service and Abyss. This one isn’t a fantasy drama, thank god, it’s called Morning Comes to Psychiatric Wards Too and is from the screenwriter of The Light in Your Eyes … Continue reading →
Another child actress is ready for her teen role mantle and this one was one of the cutest little cherubs I’ve ever laid eyes on when she debuted. Kal So Won rocketed to fame in Miracle in Cell #7 as the daughter who later grows up into Park Shin Hye‘s adult but Kal So Won had more screen time and … Continue reading →
I’m hoping for a Dali and the Cocky Prince redux here with SBS rom-com A Business Proposal (Office Blind Date), namely really crappy posters and previews but a winning and charming light romance story when it airs. The above official drama poster could not be less interesting if it tried, even a fan spliced drama could be better. It’s a … Continue reading →
Streaming platform Apple TV is a still a newbie in stepping into the K-drama realm so it’ll be interesting to see if the company promotes upcoming Koreans in Japan multigenerational drama/series Pachinko. Netflix has the process down to a science at this point having launched over a dozen self-produced K-dramas in the last two years but Apple TV is starting … Continue reading →
The fact that retired former top actress Brigette Lin is 67-years old had me floored, both in how beautiful she still looks at that age and how much time has passed. She’s been retired from acting since 1994 with Ashes of Time as her last project so that is nearly 30 years, she’s been married and living a seemingly low … Continue reading →
