Well this is certainly a rarity in K-drama but clearly stuff really went off the rails during filming. Rookie actress Park Hye Eun (but she uses Park Hae Eun on her own SNS account) has been fired from the currently filming Hong Sisters fantasy drama Return (or Resurrection) as the female lead. Filming only started recently and has now been … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Hoo boy, now this is a drama casting I wish the male lead didn’t accept, even if it turns out to be good all the early signs are that it won’t be my cup of tea. Im Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun are confirmed and will head into filming for romance drama Melancholia, depicting the love story of an … Continue reading →

K-actress Jung Yumi of Rooftof Prince and Partners for Justice Stuns Netizens with Striking New Look

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

All I ask of my actors/actress is that they be able to exercise their craft whether through visuals or physical expression but so often it comes up against the modern cheat sheet that is alterations. Whether someone went under the knife is for he/she to acknowledge and accept but as viewers we can only say someone looks the same or … Continue reading →

SBS Releases Script Reading Stills for Upcoming Sageuk Romance Red Sky

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s been a mixed bag so far this year in 2021 with sageuks but overall it felt like I’m getting that genre satisfied nicely with the ones I’ve watched. It’s also nice that one finishes and another starts right after so I can focus on one at a time and up next is SBS drama Red Sky (Hong Chun Gi). … Continue reading →

Makjang Queen Screenwriter Im Sung Han’s Second Season of TV Chosun Drama Marriage Lyrics and Divorce Music Continues its Ratings Success and is Less Crazy that Penthouse

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I still remember the infamous Princess Aurora aka “Im Sung Han’s Death Note”, the drama where the behind-the-scenes shenanigans resulted in onscreen plot developments where character after character was either shipped off or killed off (and not resurrected). Writer Im Sung Han kinda lost her ratings touch after that maybe because actors didn’t want to work with her anymore and/or … Continue reading →

Im Soo Hyang Cast in the K-drama Remake of Jane the Virgin

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

K-actress Im Soo Hyang has had her show of hit dramas and flop dramas and many more in between, she’s one of the most consistently productive K-actresses with the amount of dramas she does on a regular clip. I’m glad she’s getting work but I do not get her appeal as an actress, she just doesn’t work for me so … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Newly arrived tvN drama You are My Spring is……interesting to say the least. I watched episode 1 and can’t for the life of me decide if I like it or dislike it. If it wasn’t for leads Seo Hyun Jin and Kim Dong Wook both of whom I love, I probably would lean towards dislike but it’s not because the … Continue reading →

K-ent Writer Posts Fawning Article Praising Han So Hee’s Charisma, Acting Ability, and Visuals to the Moon Despite the Ratings Disappointment of Nevertheless

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Okay, this K-ent article is so ridiculously over effusive I have no idea what the writer is thinking to write thousands of words on why Han So Hee has that “shocking charisma, like magic it can cover up any lacking areas.” The writer discusses how jTBC had high hopes for Nevertheless but the ratings keep dropping and now is in … Continue reading →

Shin Se Kyung Joins IU and Signs with Agency Edam Entertaiment

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Earlier I posted that Shin Se Kyung was looking for a new agency after her long time contract with Namoo Actors expired but it was not official and some fans believed she would end up re-signing. I don’t think it’s good or bad whether she leaves Namoo, the agency has shepherded her career through her entire twenties and she got … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

The ladies version of the same insider polling results are out and deserves as much attention as the men. In a surprise (for me at least) pick, Kim Tae Ri got the most votes with 6 as the actress that industry insiders listed as their number 1 pick in casting the female lead. She was followed by Gong Hyo Jin … Continue reading →

Nevertheless with Song Kang and Han So Hee Drops a Little Bit More in Episode 3 Ratings and Netizens Aren’t in the Mood for this Drama Story

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I don’t think jTBC was expecting Saturday mature college romance drama Nevertheless to do gangbuster ratings but the webtoon was popular and a drama adaption ought to be a little bit more resonant with viewers. But alas the ratings continue to decrease though it’s just a little drop in episode 3 to 1.173%, and the network probably will be happy … Continue reading →
