I feel like tvN Mon-Tues drama A Piece of Your Mind was the similar cousin to jTBC also Mon-Tues drama When the Weather is Good. Both were quietly paced and warmly emotional, and neither got high ratings or buzz during its run. I watched all of When the Weather is Good, really powering through almost because I wanted so much … Continue reading →
It’s been a few days and the public attention has dropped from 100000000% to like 90% heh. Still a whole lot and who can blame the Chinese-speaking media and rubbernecking fans for keeping the spotlight on Chinese instagram star and fashionista Grace Chow putting ex-boyfriend top idol and host Show Luo on blast for cheating on her during their 9 … Continue reading →
It’s crazy that K-actor Jang Dong Yoon‘s name is attached to so many dramas in 2020 already. His new thriller action drama Search will premiere soon on OCN, a great pick for him to totally change up from his last drama The Tale of Nokdu. He was also considering the jTBC rom-com adaptation of the manhwa Sunbae, Please Don’t Put … Continue reading →
It’s nice to see Gong Hyo Jin active in promotions this spring, probably capitalizing on the great momentum from 2019 when she won awards and ratings with her hit drama When the Camellia Blooms. It was a tad schizophrenic for me, like two totally unrelated dramas being Franken-stitched into one. Gong Hyo Jin remains always watchable with a down to … Continue reading →
C-ent was hyping up The King: Eternal Monarch as well as rightfully so. Lee Min Ho dramas always do well in Chinese-speaking regions and same with all prior Kim Eun Sook penned dramas. But 4-episodes in even the notoriously fawning C-media is posting incisive analyses for why The King hasn’t been the hit it was built up to be. On … Continue reading →
I can’t believe Jang Ki Yong passed on Record of Youth for this drama Born Again, because even if Youth fails and isn’t that good it cannot be as totally and wholly stupid as Born Again hahahah. This drama is so awful and yet it’s awful enough that its entertaining to watch, I can’t explain why logically just that I … Continue reading →
There is nothing wrong per se with jTBC Mon-Tues drama When the Weather is Nice (I’ll Come By When the Weather is Good) but there was also nothing really riveting about it. This is a drama equivalent of a warm oversized sweater, there is nothing stylistically worth noting but it serves a functional purpose. Weather was all about emotional growth … Continue reading →
Wowser, consider me surprised but also believing that this could have happened. New SBS Mon-Tues drama Good Casting, which takes over from Nobody Knows, rather impressed with a nobody could have expected surprising ratings. Episode 1 notched 9.5% and 12.3%, making it easily the time slot ratings leader over low single digit competitors Born Again and 365: Repeat the Year. … Continue reading →
In the last month I haven’t so much as put on an outfit that resembles anything Park Shin Hye is modeling in this just released CF stills for ladies clothing brand Mojo S. Phine. Remote working means no need for office clothing and it’s both a blessing and a curse. I miss looking put together but I love not having … Continue reading →
I thought sheltering at home in many countries meant being sick and tired of seeing one’s family members after working and living together 24/7. Turns out long distance relationships that weren’t fortuitously together before the halt to travel and stay at home initiatives have had to deal with their new normal. Case in point TW-actress Ariel Lin who has been … Continue reading →
With how ratings disappointing SBS epic fantasy drama The King: Eternal Monarch has been is how incredible it is to see the continued meteoric ratings rise of jTBC intense melodrama The World of the Married. Trust me when I say I don’t know ANY marriage or societal orbit as crazy as the one shown in the drama but it’s clearly … Continue reading →
Four episodes into watching K-drama The King: Eternal Monarch and it’s a steady stream of “buh” and “huh” and “snooze…..” The story may be disjointed but there have been way worse written K-dramas that have worked better thanks to the onscreen romantic chemistry of the leads – not talking about acting ability, just whether the two leads make the viewer … Continue reading →
April 2020 has totally sped by and thank goodness because I was losing track of days, work day and weekends were interchangeable and I haven’t been to a restaurant in nearly two months. That makes upcoming MBC drama Shall We Have Dinner Together rather poignant, the idea that romance blossoms from a chance sharing of a table at a popular … Continue reading →
