The K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin hit the halfway mark this week so there’s been more than enough acting and story to gauge the audience preferences. By midway through BBJX it was clear who was firmly on Team 4th Prince versus Team 8th Prince, or was like me who appreciated both men for their love of Ruo Xi but … Continue reading →
There’s more pictures from the Elle Korea pictorial with Han Ji Min that I posted about a few weeks ago, back then it was a pre-release of two still and now the rest of the series is out in all its refreshing restrained splendor. She’s currently promoting the K-movie The Age of Shadows with leading men Song Kang Ho and Gong … Continue reading →
Of the three big child actresses grown up, Kim Yoo Jung has now become the first with a mega hit K-drama under her belt. Sure mega means 20% for a prime time drama nowadays but it’s still impressive and well deserved for her incredible acting ability in sageuks. Moonlight Drawn by Clouds isn’t a success due to her alone but … Continue reading →
Even topping this poll once is cause for congratulations so this is certainly the cherry on top of K-actor Song Joong Ki‘s crazy year of popularity to rank number 1 in the Power People List of 2016. It’s the 47th year of this list, which includes all entertainment stars from acting, singing, writing, producing, directing, and announcing. Song Joong Ki … Continue reading →
Fall in Paris is glorious weather and fashion season, which is why it’s dispiriting to see the two used in such lackluster ways in the latest Cosmopolitan Korea pictorial featuring Lee Min Jung. She went all the way to the City of Lights only to be filmed in front of nondescript buildings and streets, decked out in serviceable albeit unmemorable … Continue reading →
The premiere of a male leads packed K-movie like Asura City of Madness is certainly going to bring out the bromance friends to support the cast. To even things out plenty of female stars also arrived for the red carpet VIP premiere of the thriller movie starring Jung Woo Sung, Hwang Jung Min, and Joo Ji Hoon. Two of 2016’s … Continue reading →
Fall officially arrived last week as the summer of 2016 bid adieu, and with it I was hoping K-ent’s summer of male stars behaving badly scandal was also over. I hoped too soon as this weekend the Korean media found itself reporting on yet another sex scandal headlining a male celebrity. Singer and variety star Jung Joon Young is facing … Continue reading →
I’m getting really familiar with Lee Min Ho‘s casual light blue cotton tunic top and white linen pants, what with the steady stream of fan snapped pictures of him filming Legend of the Blue Sea in Spain wearing that outfit in what appears to be scene after scene. Good news is that he looks great in it, and it makes … Continue reading →
I’m not going assume that the domestic ratings failure of flower boy packed sageuk Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo means that the genre or casting isn’t going to win over the particular tastes of South Korean viewers. It does mean that more eyes will be on the next pre-produced flower boy cast sageuk to see if it sinks or sails, … Continue reading →
There will be a contrasting selection of Mon-Tues K-dramas coming in late fall, and which one piques your interest may depend on mood as the casting has been finalized and both are packed with plenty of talent. Arriving first at the end of October after Moonlight Drawn by Clouds will be KBSÂ drama The Man Living in Our House, with Soo … Continue reading →
This week there are three new big name offerings to the Asian outposts of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and all three are quite familiar to me so I can at least gauge the wax versus real facsimile. First up was Korean singer-actress getting her wax figure installed in the Hong Kong museum, with Suzy heading there for the unveiling ceremony … Continue reading →
If all women aged like Song Hye Kyo then half the vexations of life’s woes may seem less pressing, what with preternaturally beautiful faces all around to gaze upon. The Hallyu A-list actress has been the face of South Korean beauty brand Laneige for what feels like forever, definitely a decade at least judging from when I started to see … Continue reading →
Looks like SBS wants to shake off the ratings doldrums with current Mon-Tues drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo to try and recapture the audience with another medical drama to follow. Doctors with Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won was one of the ratings highlights this year and now the network has readied Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim to attempt … Continue reading →
