More K-drama awards are a-coming! Yay, I guess? The 2014 Grimme Awards will be held at the end of this week on Dec 12th to hand out awards to the already announced winners. The Grimme Awards is an industry award hosted and selected by the Korean Film Cinematographers Association, basically the cameramen of South Korea. The Daesang (Grand Prize) for the … Continue reading →
Pinocchio is one of those dramas where there are multiple angles for drama viewers to check it out. There are Park Shin Hye fans hoping she can silence her critics and wash away some of the stupor of Heirs, there are Lee Jong Seok fans praying he’s back to fine form after straying into Dr. Stranger crazyville, and finally there … Continue reading →
I’m trying to keep my expectations low for Pinocchio which premieres in mere hours on Wednesday night in Korea on SBS. Forget the hyped up casting of Lee Jong Seok and Park Shin Hye, or whatever residual audience love remains for the production team from it’s last drama I Hear Your Voice. What I really want to see is an … Continue reading →
I thought SBS was done with Pinocchio promo stuff after holding the press conference and releasing the long preview but I was wrong as the production has dropped a few more nuggets of goodness this weekend. The focus on the promos have been on the teenage time period for the two leads even though most of the drama is set … Continue reading →
The final promotional push is done for Pinocchio so all that’s left is to wait 5 more days until Wednesday night arrives. The cast attended the press conference yesterday as the production revealed both the official drama posters and the always welcome long video preview. I found the posters sweet and fluffy like the cotton clouds leads Park Shin Hye … Continue reading →
It’s Wednesday so more Pinocchio goodies! It’s either that or more My Lovely Girl crud, which sadly I’ll be sharing later, but let’s enjoy some promising stuff first. Pinocchio premieres next week right on schedule and remains my most anticipated drama. I not only like leads Lee Jong Seok and Park Shin Hye, the story board also sounds quite up … Continue reading →
Looks like Pinocchio is going to milk the teenage sequence sweetness until the audience either gets a toothache or bow to the drama’s successful presentation of yet another popular K-drama trope. The latest stills show leads Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Seok doing the tried-and-true piggyback ride, this time beautifully lit with the setting sun over country fields beside them. I … Continue reading →
Lee Jong Seok’s popularity in China and headway into the market really came fast and furious. Lee Jong Seok follows in his new leading lady’s footsteps as he held his first even China fanmeeting last week in Beijing, hosted by video portal Tudou in conjunction with his agency. His rise started with last year’s I Hear Your Voice, which was relatively … Continue reading →
Contrary to how the public sees the fictional character of Pinocchio, the K-drama version has been quite the tease with a veritable lockdown on stills and spoilers until the floodgates opened last weekend. I think it’s going to end up helping rather than hurting the drama if the final product is actually good. The undeniable fact is that a good … Continue reading →
SBS keeps pulling back the curtains little by little on upcoming Wed-Thurs drama Pinocchio. Compared to the teaser that dropped last weekend I’m much more pleased and relieved with the first batch of official character stills from the drama. Starring Lee Jong Seok, Park Shin Hye, Kim Young Kwang, and Lee Yoo Bi, Pinocchio follows a team of city beat … Continue reading →
SBS needs a slap upside the head for how spectacularly bad it’s doing with the promos for the upcoming Wed-Thurs drama Pinocchio. Would it kill the network to drop a steady stream of news, it needn’t be a shock and awe campaign but the radio silence has been jarring since this is a big production and SBS is known for … Continue reading →
When there are two famous in their own right leads cast together in a drama. the natural inclination is to want to see what they look like together. As if the visual scrutiny might shed light on what’s to come, or at least give everyone something to talk about until the actual drama drops. Pinocchio is still weeks away from … Continue reading →
It’s a little too early to start seeing goodies from the upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Pinocchio, the drama recently started filming and its predecessor My Lovely Girl just aired episode 6. It does feel a bit too quiet though so let’s get the Pinocchio train rolling with the first unofficial peek at the production in the still above with many … Continue reading →
