Now that the first batch of 2015 K-dramas have shaken out the ratings rankings and audience feedback – wins for Punch, Kill Me Heal Me, Shine or Go Crazy, losses for Hyde, Jekyll, Me, Blood – the media is looking ahead to the possible big name castings to come. One drama that just got a leading man is Yoochun for … Continue reading →
I wonder if the casting director was aware of the debunked dating rumors last year, or simply thought these two popular youngsters would be great paired up together? Regardless of the reason, I totally dig the new fried chicken CF featuring Lee Jong Seok and Suzy beaming with youthful cuteness. This is exactly how to package these two together, in … Continue reading →
I can’t believe the latest pairing up of Lee Jong Seok and Park Shin Hye isn’t something I find super duper perfect. I may love them individually and together but gosh darn it these latest CF stills from outerwear brand Millet are majorly bland. At least Millet was on the right track in bringing together the two popular leads from … Continue reading →
It’s much appreciated for the respective agencies of young Korean actors Lee Jong Seok and Kim Woo Bin to come out quickly with a response after news broke from the Chinese press that both were in talks to join the cast of the upcoming C-version of We Got Married. Jong Seok and Woo Bin’s reps basically said in much more … Continue reading →
I’ve noticed that over the years I’ve been writing about C-dramas, and C-entertainment more and more due to the rise of both the quality as well as the increase in cross-border collaborations. Some folks new to C-dramas, or haven’t even dipped a toe in, sometimes enjoy my posts without a clue of who’s popular and why certain stars seem to … Continue reading →
With Pinocchio put to bed it feels like nestling in for the night after a particularly productive day. The cast and crew must feel even more satisfied and proud of delivering such a meaningful drama made with love. I’ve long since passed my drama shipping days other than out of nostalgia or whimsy but the OTP of Lee Jong Seok … Continue reading →
Take this potential casting news with a grain of salt, but for sure the show is happening. MBC is partnering up with a Chinese media to co-produce the Chinese version of celebrity fake dating/co-habiting show We Got Married. This trend follows the official licensing last year of popular K-variety shows such as Daddy, Where Are We Going? and Running Man … Continue reading →
Whether Pinocchio is considered a modest or moderate success as a K-drama, one element of undeniable breakthrough was leading lady Park Shin Hye finally showing off an all-around acting performance that includes credible romantic stirring and attraction on her part. Whether she got over the hump on her own or leading man Lee Jong Seok had a helping hand in it, … Continue reading →
With the 2014 SBS Drama Awards, another prolific if underwhelming in quality year wraps up in K-dramaland. There wasn’t an underlying reason I saved this network for last in coverage, MBC went first and I only had time to write about the KBS awards before passing out sick as a dog after watching the new year’s fireworks light off. I … Continue reading →
I have an inkling that Pinocchio may turn me into a full blown Lee Jong Seok fangirl. It can’t be helped if that happens since his character is beyond awesome. I grew to like him after falling for his Dr. Park Hoon in Dr. Stranger so it’ll be just going to the logical conclusion to grow that like to love … Continue reading →
After the horror trainwreck that was Dr. Stranger earlier this year, which actually did respectable ratings vis-a-vis all the prime time dramas in 2014, it’s such a relief to see Lee Jong Seok end his year on a high note. There’s the currently airing Pinocchio, which I love and it appears the sentiment is shared by many others, and now … Continue reading →
I know K-dramas have been on a flower boy roll for the last few years, but recently I’ve really started noticing that all the leading men in K-dramas have gotten progressively taller and taller. Early Hallyu had quite a few leading men who can be considered actor-short (i.e. Tom Cruise level height), not short compared to the average Asian man but … Continue reading →
Whether you like them or not, I think it safe to at least agree that the new generation of Hallyu kings are here and the overall consensus includes Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Min Ho, Lee Jong Seok, and Kim Woo Bin. Sure a few other popular around Asia twenty-something singer-actors like Lee Seung Gi and Jang Geun Seok could be included, … Continue reading →
