The ratings are out for a new drama shakeup this Wed-Thurs on prime time K-dramas and I’d call it a pyhrric victory. The arrival of legal thriller Switch (Change the World) with Jang Geun Seok and Han Ye Ri brought in 7.0%, 7.9% for the first two Wed episodes and then 6.8% and 7.6% for the Thurs episodes. Contrast that with Mystery Queen 2 with 6.8% on Wed and then 6.7% on Thurs, and the MBC drama Let’s Hold Hands and Watch the Sunset Together getting around 3-4% ratings, overall the Wed-Thurs time slot is supremely lacking in total viewership to an astonishing degree. I guess it behooves mentioning that tvN cable drama My Ahjusshi is netting 3.6111% ratings and it’s clear quality does bring in eyeballs but there still needs to be a catalyst to bring back to the lost viewership overall of people just not watching TV at all. I’m way too backlogged and haven’t started any Wed-Thurs drama so have no comment on quality and excitement but remain worried about attrition of overall audience. Continue reading
