I don’t know if this is much ado about nothing but it’s certainly gotten more attention as the drama airing has gone on for tvN‘s hit rom-com This Life is Our First (Because This is Our First Life). Japanese entertainment has now taken note of similarities of that drama with the hit J-dorama from 2016 We Married as a Job … Continue reading →
This was one military enlistment that I was hoping wouldn’t end, and certainly was quite disappointed that it took on the same scandal-plagued enlistment of another idol-actor Kim Hyun Joong. Fans and media were out in force for the discharge of Park Yoochun after serving his military enlistment in the police unit. His enlistment took a crazy detour after he … Continue reading →
Hoo boy, this is so not the news update I wanted to hear on an idol-actor that I’m actually aware of who he is. Onew of the boy group SHINee has been accused of sexual harassment and the case is currently pending police investigation. Like his group mate Minho who I only know because he keeps acting in dramas and … Continue reading →
There is a legal case in South Korea that involves the film community and pulls the curtains back on the production dark side of movie making. Famed auteur film director Kim Ki Duk has been sued by unnamed 41 year old actress A for violence and coercion stemming from his 2013 dark and perverse movie Moebius which involves family dysfunction, … Continue reading →
How serious you think of the recent drug scandal with T.O.P. (Choi Seung Hyun) of Big Bang likely hinges on a variety of factors. Whether you’re a T.O.P. and/or Big Bang fan, whether you think smoking pot is none of your business or a criminal offense, and whether you think the transgression is even worse because he’s a celebrity who … Continue reading →
The eye of the scandal is likely the hardest to withstand as the zero-to-everything scrutiny descends from the media and public alike. T.O.P.’s charges for marijuana use isn’t all that surprising considering there have been more than a few big name K-stars busted for weed in the past, and contrast to the recent sexual based scandals involving many male K-stars … Continue reading →
When one is embroiled in a major scandal where it’s pretty cut and dry that the activity did take place, abject and sincere apology is the best way to go especially in a morally uptight culture like South Korea. Top Hallyu idol group Big Bang‘s member T.O.P. (Choi Seung Hyun) hit the scandal brick wall last week when it was … Continue reading →
Bad news is either contagious or Korean celebs are particularly misbehaving these days. CNBLUE lead singer Jung Yong Hwa is under police investigation for insider trading, which sounds and is less dire than Park Yoochun being accused of multiple counts of rape, but it’s still illegal and one of those shady financial dealings like tax evasion that makes the average … Continue reading →
There’s a two pronged aspect to the huge legal investigation currently enveloping singer-actor Park Yoochun. The material issue is that he is accused of raping four different women, and the sidebar issue is the tittering salacious detail that each allegation took place in a bathroom so Yoochun may have a bathroom fetish. The former, if proven, will put him in … Continue reading →
I think the only upside for disgraced Korean singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong now is that he’s not at risk for going to jail. Other than that there is nothing but a continued downward spiral for his shameful conduct which began two years ago when his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence abuse and then mushroomed into a makjang saga of … Continue reading →
It’s rather ironic that one elusive K-ent star who is rarely photographed in recent years showed up to send off an embittered K-ent star who is in the news way too often lately in a negative light. Singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong, who so happens to be Hallyu superstar Bae Yong Joon‘s protege after signing with his agency KeyEast a few … Continue reading →
I can’t believe there is more to the Kim Hyun Joong saga, and then arrives more to the Kim Hyun Joong “reality is crazier than a K-drama” personal life. The first update is that Kim Hyun Joong is for sure enlisting in the military, to happen on May 12th in a very low key manner as per the statement provided … Continue reading →
It’s been a week since Cleavage-gate erupted on the C-entertainment webs and shows no sign of abating. The whole kerfluffle started two weeks ago when the popular currently airing period C-drama The Empress of China (武媚娘传奇) was suddenly yanked off the air with a lame sounding “technical difficulties” explanation. It returned to the airwaves right after the new year with … Continue reading →
