Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan’s Highly Anticipated Romance C-drama The Oath of Love Pulled Right Before September 8th Premiere on Hunan TV and Tencent Streaming

I think Yang Zi needs to go get an exorcism because girl is on a bad luck streak right now. But then again, it feels like every C-entertainer is walking on eggshells, along with HK and TW stars who regularly appear in C-shows. The Chinese government broadcast crackdown has hit another show as the highly anticipated romance C-drama The Oath of Love (余生,请多指教 The Rest of My Life, I Entrust to You) with Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan, which just got “delayed” on the cusp of its premiere date of September 8th. The rumors were rumbling last week and this weekend got confirmed – both Hunan TV which had the broadcast rights and Tencent with the online streaming rights are postponing the drama. The rumors arose earlier when netizens noticed that the time slot for The Oath of Love was suddenly filled by another drama and it disappeared from the scheduling. The first response from the Oath production team was to insist the drama was still airing on September 8th but days later after Hunan and Tencent both confirmed it was being re-scheduled then everyone parroted the same line that it was just a reshuffling of airing time slots like any ordinary line up swaps. Yeah, sure. I don’t know which of the two leads got swept up in the 8 point restrictions, or neither and it was simply the drama being too “pretty” and “idol” and “unrealistic” that the government in general wants to keep off the screens for the time and air instead home dramas and patriotic shows and whatnot.

  2. China really trying hard to turn back time and go back to the 90s when all the tv dramas were about the sino-japan war or communism propaganda… zzzZZ when will the old men in the ccp be phased out. they’re so out of touch.

    • Unfortunately the government is also going to ban any male entertainer that acts or looks feminine and no male will be allowed to wear an earing. So many of us have been waiting so long for “The Oath Of Love” it’s just gotten so that every time they announce it to be on I won’t believe it until I see it.

      • I mean they already did it in 2018? Which affect qingchun you ni season 1, all of male trainees couldn’t have brightly coloured hair and wore earrings, so the trainees all have black hair or dark brown. But you see during qingchun you ni season 3 the trainees had coloured hairs again right? So it’s just temporary. It will loose again. Now when the government just released the rules, they will follow to the T, but later…

  3. Good thing my kdrama line up is busy with all the shows that recently started. May have to cancel my subscriptions to some sites. no point looking at a poster of a show that may never air.

  4. Patience is a virtue. I am a loyal Xiao Zhan fan. Fell in love with this sparling soul. Waiting for this show to air will only make me anticipate seeing this wonderful actor work even more.

  5. What’s funny about this is they forgot that in their past history, men wore tons of makeup and dressed up as women to do their theatre plays. So now they’re complaining lol, they did it to themselves!

  6. I don’t get the height of Xiao Zhan. He’s just decent looking and don’t know about his acting I only watched him in OH My Emperor.

  7. Bummer…I think I’m going to give up Chinese dramas…so sad, such talented actors and actresses at the mercy of old communists farts. Sigh!!

  8. Being a fan of c-dramas it’s so disappointing when we hear the news that the most awaited drama got delayed and especially I was so eager and excited to see Xiao Zhan gege….after The Untamed. He’s really a talented person and we really get inspired by him I just don’t know why the CCP is just so disappointing that many talented actresses and actors are at their mercy…..sigh but being a loyal fan of gege I’ll wait for his dramas airing no matter how long we have to wait….

  9. Me too I’m so looking forward to watch Xiao Zhan’s drama! Such a talented actor n it just cheer me up seeing his acting:p God bless Zhan Zhan *_^:))
