C-netizens Excoriate Actor Zhang Han for Drama Groping Harassment with His Gentlemen of East 8th Costar Wang Xiaochen

Dang, the eagle-eyed netizens have done it again, and this time there is video proof. C-actor Zhang Han is in hot water after a scene aired on his new C-drama Gentlemen of East 8th where what was supposed to be flirting between his character and love interest played by C-actress Wang Xiaochen upset viewers for his crossing the line. He appears to very clearly grab her breasts as he pulled her into his lap. Another scene where they are making out also upset viewers because his leg is wedged between her legs when it’s not needed for that type of intimate placement. There is also a third scene where he stopped her from falling by grabbed her bra strap. Before this controversy, his drama was already getting slammed and low ratings of 2.2 on Douban for being a cheesy (i.e. the male characters are sleazy or self-absorbed) knock off of K-drama A Gentleman’s Dignity and also trying to be the male version of hit C-drama Nothing But Thirty. Zhang Han is the producer of this drama on top of being the male lead so all this criticism is directed at him double fold. And finally, C-netizens also dug into Zhang Han’s past drama Here to Heart with Janine Chang and saw him embracing her around the breasts during a press conference.

C-netizens Excoriate Actor Zhang Han for Drama Groping Harassment with His Gentlemen of East 8th Costar Wang Xiaochen — 19 Comments

  1. I thought he was decent guy but from what I read and saw….. he is trash.

Poor actresses, because he is a producer I think it might be harder to speak too.

Also they thought it was okay to air this groping, which make this even more gross.

    • Interesting backlash for something this man has done in a previous drama a few years back. I guess he pushed the envelope to far this time.

  2. NRTA bans a lot of nonsensical things like male actors wearing earrings, rebirth dramas previously and BL but somehow dramas with disgusting sexual harassment like this get a pass.

  3. Agreed w/ everyone. Seriously, no one in the editing room or during the filming thought it was inappropriate? I will not be watching this garbage.

  4. I remember there were rumors that he was dating Janine so maybe that was why he was more touchy towards her. Still, I find it disrespect for men to do that in public. It’s acceptable in the Italian culture but not in Asia.

    • Yup, @allysia, different cultures are applied differently to countries but the point here is they are public figures and they nees to be more cautious in front of cameras especially when they are dating.

    • Not agreeing with any action that was unwanted but what does his past girlfriends have to do with anything? I’ve definitely dated some heinous people that at the time I didn’t think they were……

  5. I am fast loosing patience with Asian netizens (the Chinese in particular). All adult content is labelled pervert, sleazy, etc. Censorship is alive & well in China. Simply rate the production as suitable only for 18+ viewers due to sexually realistic content. And no, such scenes as those being highlighted are not disgusting and miles away from the sleazy of explicitly sexual material. The Chinese are too hypocritical & puritan by half! There is, of course, a right time & place for everything but to criticise how a couple behaves behind closed doors (as are the scenes being referred to) ??? Also there is absolutely no concrete evidence that the ML has harassed his female co-actor; it is all assumption & conjecture.

    • On Point . All they know is criticizing other people’s hard work , and that is why there is a lot of movies and dramas so one person can choose what they want to see. Obviously Hans Zhang knows that not everyone likes him or his work and he is okay with it .So people should get over themselves and live and let live .
