New Updated Release of Legend of Anle Moves to July 12th on Youku After Hidden Love Concludes its Run — 12 Comments

  1. hope netflix will buy this too. hidden love peaked at num 13 tv show netflix global ranking ( could be higher than this once they upload all eps) . hope this achievement will make they put more c drama on netlfix.

    • Netflix must have gotten good returns from buying Falling Into Your Smile and Love Between Fairy and Devil last year. They’ve been picking up some amazing stuff with Till The End Of The Moon, Hidden Love, The Longest Promise and if they pick up all the upcoming dramas this month that’ll be amazing. Its time for Kdrama to get some serious competition.

      • oh yeah last year they got quite a few c dramas but who rules the world with yy and zls is the most watched c drama on netflix if Im not mistaken. I read about it somewhere cant remember.

  2. It’s the battle of Luilangs in July. Xiao Zhan, Yang Yang, Diliraba and coming soon is Yang Zi and Cheng Yi with new dramas just days apart. Crazy year to be a Cdrama fan. So many goodies and with Netflix showing a growing interest in Cdrama things are looking great.

  3. Can somebody please explain to me what Liulang means? I watch Chinese dramas but I don’t understand their language so it’s hard for me to understand alot of stuff.

    • It’s Liu Liang (liuliang) 流量

It means a C-star with huge and dedicated fanbases and online traffic data.

“Liuliang are celebrities that have a large star-chasing fandom following. Most Liuliang-actors become a Liuliang through either an idol background (like TFBoys) or through one hit idol BG or BL drama (like Guardian, The Untamed, Word of Honor, Love O2O, Ashes of Love, Go Go Squid). Most of them are males because star-chasing fandom are mostly straight females. Dilreba is the most popular female Liuliang but the traffic she gets is still less than the popular male Liuliangs. Actresses such as Yang Mi and Zhao Liying are not pure Liuliang stars because not only do they have a star-chasing fanbase, they also enjoy a wide national recognition.”

  4. Most K dramas on Netflix have film qualities but C dramas? Not yet to be honest. There’re still challenges for C dramas to compete with K dramas in the international market. Like Cpop could never outperform Kpop because of lacking appealing elements to international fans, C dramas need more creativity in scriptwriting and production to be on par with K dramas. So far, too many copycats in C ent.

  5. Fabricated historical drama is my favorite genre. I’ll check out LoA. Nonetheless, I don’t have high expectation. The main leads are both liuliang stars in C ent. But I’ve never been able to finish their dramas without skipping a scene. You’re My Glory is the only drama of Dilraba I sat through the end although skipping a lot of boring cliches. I dropped ALL of Gong Jun’s dramas. LOL. I hope to see him in different light so that I won’t always feel watching the same actor Gong Jun but not the character he plays in each drama.

      • I did. Gong Jun was more impressive in WoH than in other dramas. It could be scripts/directing that affected how I felt about his dramas. Nonetheless, I saw similar elements in WoH to The Untamed. I’m actually not the one for BL dramas. The Untamed is one exception because of Xiao Zhan. I don’t think I’d be interested in another BL drama.

      • LoA has the same director as WoH. I have watched the first episode just dropped… I will reserve my opinion until few more episodes in… Maybe there will be another post here soon… very curious to read the feedback from the audience. I am not a BL fan either, but just wanting to point out to you that GJ can be very charismatic if the role hits the right note.
