The King 2 Hearts Episode 1 Recap — 31 Comments

  1. The trailer for this had me thoroughly confused. I expected dark & heavy. I’m pleasantly surprised! I can’t wait for tomorrow when they start rooming together. (ahahaha) Best part: was her fangirl gasps at Hyun Binnie & skipping down the stairs – totally unexpected humor.

  2. Yay! Thanks. You are super fast.

I loved it too! I had zero expectations and was very surprised that I laughed the whole way through. Really love the look and feel of the drama. Its so sleek and pretty to look at. I nearly fell off my seat when all of HJW’s boysssss made a meta appearance. Rain, KDW, In Sung-ah…especially when she swooned “Hyun Binnie!”. Bwahahahaha.

I really, really hope that Show won’t go batshit crazy on us after the first few eps so we don’t crash and burn (*ahem*Moon/Sun). So far, my favorite part is the brotherly love. King and Prince are adorbs together, love how he shouted ‘Hyung!’ during his army training when he couldn’t breath. And yes, I can already see HJW and Seungi’s simmering chemistry. Can’t wait for them to be roomies, I’m sure it will be a riot!

Thanks again for the recap. 🙂

  3. Aw ignore my comment on your previous post, sorry about being impatient miss ockoala. Woah2 thankyou so much. Let’s hope that this drama will continue to satisfy and entertain us.

  4. Thanks for the recap! I’m so glad that this drama turns out so good. Hopefully it will just continue to get better with each episode. When the trailers were shown, there were no hints of dark comedy at all like they promoted this drama as. Turns out there really is comedy! Such a pleasant surprise. Hope they maintain this great balance of romance, humor, intrigue, intense and heart all the way till the end.

  5. Woaaah! Thanks for making your review so swiftly! I love reading it given the fact that I still have not watched the first episode bcoz eng subs videos are yet being uploaded by anyone out there. But thanks to this, I am at ease that the K2H has not dissapointed its viewers! :)))

  6. I’ll be happy if the following episodes remain at this level of quality. that’s all i’m asking for. keep my fingers crossed.

i love the fact that they have a fantastic cast for this drama, and when i saw the King, the thought that came to mind is that I’m so glad this actor finally got the great script (compared to the president of SK he played in My Princess, geez, what a difference). I’m looking forward to seeing the villain (sorry i forgot his name but he was so good playing Jung Ki Joon in TwDR) in Ep 2.

  7. Love “The King 2Hearts”~!
Intense, funny, interesting plus it feels like a movie!
Of course, love all the cast, especially Seung Gi oppa~!
    Can’t wait for ep 2!!!

  8. Unlike you, I did enjoy Rooftop Prince, but K2H certainly wins hands down. I am especially pleased by how it can be pretty dark and pretty funny at the same time.

Oh, and after watching ep 1, I can certainly see why they wanted Jo In Sung (though I am adoring LSG in this). Jae Ha has a certain deliberate disconnect, as a reaction to pressures and his surroundings. He is not immature as much as trying to be so.

  9. yay!!!! Puppy-power!!!!

Ever since they announced LSG for this role after JIS, I was nervous that he would be compared to JIS and overlooked, but so glad to see that he is rocking this role!!!!

Keeping fingers crossed that this will be another success for LSG & HJW!!!!

  10. Does it mean I’ve seen too many dramas when the first thing that pops into my head after seeing a great first episode is … Please don’t suck!? 🙂
HJW is awesome as expected. LSG playing one of my favorite character types. The really rather not be a hero, who in the end will come through. The one who will do the right thing, he just wants to bitch about it first. Examples that come to mind, Han Solo & Chen Zai Tian.
Looking forward to the next episodes! 🙂

    • LOL I don’t think LSG’s character is the Han Solo type…well at least not yet. Han Solo was badass. LSG’s character however, remains to be seen…

  11. I am loving this drama because of the characters. I find them realistic and believable. Han Ah is a soldier but that doesn’t neccessarily mean she can’t look pretty, act girly (like many dramas portray) and look for a husband. I am also invested in Jae Ha’s development to a kick as soldier.

I eat my own words o doubt about their chemistry! They look awesome and I am hoping it will get better as their relationship develops.

  12. I liked this first episode better than Rooftop Prince, but I have the same comment – I’m along for the ride as long as this drama doesn’t take me through Crazytown.

Who am I kidding…for LSG and HJW, I’ll even put up with Crazytown! 😀
