The career trajectory of Byun Yo Han confuses me because he has it all. Good looks and even more importantly acting talent, and he’s acknowledged for both with plenty of breakthrough roles in hit dramas like Misaeng, Six Flying Dragons, and Mr. Sunshine. And yet I don’t see his name in casting rumors bandied about and feel like either he’s … Continue reading →
Okay, at this point I’m watching to see if Han So Hee breaks some sort of record for being cast in the most movies and/or dramas in one year. I’m glad she’s not someone I’m particularly keen on (as of now) otherwise I would worry that she is headed towards over exposure, and also the more projects she’s in the … Continue reading →
Hhhmmm, I don’t think I actually have a problem with this, the results are going to so different it won’t feel like a pointless endeavor remake. C-ent has bought the remake rights to critically acclaimed hit TW-drama Someday or One Day (Want to See You) with Alice Ke and Greg Hsu and is slated to remake it into a historical … Continue reading →
Looks like filming is done for upcoming Apple+ drama adaptation of Korean-American novel Pachinko, seeing as Lee Min Ho is back in South Korea after a long Canadian location shoot. I’m sure the drama will be quality fare and his fans will definitely watch for him and hopefully it will continue to expand the reach of Korean entertainment around the … Continue reading →
Unlike Penthouse which leaves me scratching my head on the appeal to audiences, I totally slurp up and want more of tvN Thursday one-episode a week medical drama Hospital Playlist. Season 1 was a huge hit already for the cast and crew and PD Shin Won Ho of the Answer Me series and Prison Playbook said all along it was … Continue reading →
This week KBS 1980’s period romance Youth of May wrapped up and perhaps the cheerful posters and seemingly innocent romance setting mislead viewers or the production chose to downplay all the Gwangju Uprising backdrop, the ending was of course T-raumatic with a capital T. That happens, it’s happened to me a lot watching twenty years worth of K-dramas. The early … Continue reading →
I feel like I’ve seen this show before – the ingenue that comes out of nowhere and after one memorable role is cast in a succession of high profile gigs, and then kinda doesn’t live up to expectation. The last bit hasn’t happened (yet) but K-actress Han So Hee is definitely the It Girl of 2021 after playing the mistress … Continue reading →
The career trajectory of K-actress Moon Geun Young hasn’t gone into hibernation like Won Bin or slow slide into being forgotten like Yoon Eun Hye, but she’s definitely someone I didn’t think would be working this infrequently in dramas and movies. I thought she would do at least 1 a year but now it’s more like 1 every three years. … Continue reading →
The fantasy genre in K-dramas continues to go strong and up next is streaming platform TVING with Welcome to Witch’s Restaurant. I’ll confess to probably letting this one slip by but for the fact that it stars Nam Ji Hyun and rising rookie actor Chae Jong Hyeob which is enough for me to check out, and I’m not allergic to … Continue reading →
When I look back on Kang Han Na‘s career I realized I saw her when she made her K-drama debut and actually remember it. She debuted on Miss Korea (just an amazing and woefully underrated drama) as one of the Miss Seoul contestants. She won but was disqualified for lying about her status, she actually have birth before and that … Continue reading →
This drama may be the most critically acclaim packed even before it airs thanks to the cast and crew. jTBC drama Human Disqualification (Disqualified as a Human or No Longer Human) will star Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol, and be directed by acclaimed movie director Hur Jin Ho in his first drama series helmed. Normally I would say … Continue reading →
This week SBS did a program 2021 Showcase which featured discussion and first look stills of upcoming dramas on its calendar. I was drooling with excitement when it got to the upcoming romance drama Now, We are Breaking Up with Song Hye Kyo and Jang Ki Yong. It’s set in the fashion industry which always elicits a groan from me … Continue reading →
Recently concluded KBS period romance and political drama Youth of May is only screenwriter Lee Kang‘s second full length drama, after Spy and also doing drama specials. I love love love male lead Lee Do Hyun but didn’t like the promos much and also feel rather bland towards female lead Go Min Si so I didn’t end up watching when … Continue reading →
