K-stars Gong Yoo and Jung Yumi were swept up in a wedding rumor today and both stars mutual agency has released an official response denying the rumor. An anonymous post claiming by an employee of Shilla Hotel saying that Gong Yoo reserved the famed venue … Continue reading →
Manner legs, or when a super tall entertainer stands in an open-legged stance to lower himself, is such a unique Korean thing. I don’t recall seeing tall stars in other entertainment industries doing the pose to adjust for height differentials in scenes or allow the make up artist to freshen things up on the set. I suppose the other industries … Continue reading →
Wax figures at Madame Tussauds isn’t the only way for stars to have their own dopplegangers, ever since the advent of cinema there have been body and face doubles during filming. I’m not sure if there’s as lucrative a business as being a famous person lookalike in China, i.e. earning money to attend parties and whatnot, but there’s certainly something … Continue reading →
The end of 2017 feels bittersweet to me, with nary a K-drama or performance that truly touched me like previous years past. In particular some of my faves rather let me down and I’m primarily talking about Lee Jong Seok in SBS drama While You Were Sleeping. He didn’t put in a bad performance but conversely it was like all … Continue reading →

The year is ending on a heavier than usual note for 2017 in K-ent due to the two unexpected and thoroughly dispiriting passing of famous Hallyu stars. Actor Kim Joo Hyuk died in a car accident and idol Jonghyun of SHINee took his own life. I’m so relieved that there is good news to report on an earlier serious health … Continue reading →
The TC Candler website list of the Most Beautiful Faces of 2017 is out and congrats is due to Taiwanese idol singer Tzuyu (Chou Tzu Yu) of TWICE for being the highest East Asian star on the list at number 3. Good lord, I thought I had my emotions in check for the last week with the shocking K-ent news of the suicide of SHINee member Jonghyun, but clearly death and one that comes much too early will always cut to the core. I’m only familiar with two SHINee members Minho and Onew due to their acting careers but knowing the … Continue reading →
This is a hilarious news to report and a happy one at that. Thanks to the super efficiency of the Japanese post office, a breaking news story broke two days early and frankly I’m not sure it’s a bad thing. Idol-actor Okada Junichi, famous for over two decades since joining Johnny’s Entertainment and debuting with boy band V6, complied with … Continue reading →
A bit of happy news for a change of pace, TW-actress Michelle Chen posted an update on her SNS account celebrating the first birthday of her son with husband C-actor Chen Xiao. The couple married in the summer of 2016 and welcomed their son in December of that year, and their little boy nicknamed Little Star hit the big 1 … Continue reading →
You worked hard, Jonghyun. You did well, and please be at peace now. It was heartbreaking to read Jonghyun’s final letter that he intended as a suicide note, filled with so much despair with no hope for a brighter future. That his passing this week left behind so many grieving family, friends, and fans was not something he wished for … Continue reading →
Farewell and sleep soundly, dear prince of the K-ent music scene. While Jonghyun of SHINee was just one of the many popular male idols in K-ent, and the group even being on the tail end of its life cycle, his suicide yesterday hits home once again that glitz, glamour, fame, and fortune does not equal happiness and inside every person … Continue reading →
