The news cycle getting one upped is nothing new and I thought the crypto billionaire Justin Sun expose on attempting to have surrogacy baby with actress Jing Tian was sure to be the craziest C-ent news of this year. Well it’s time for hold my beer because the last 24 hours have been all about Dylan Wang (Wang He Di), … Continue reading →
Last month August Tencent air dropped The Road to Splendor, a A-budget period romance and politics C-drama starring Ding Yu Xi and Deng En Xi. Overall it slid under the radar, getting more strong reviews than bringing in viewership based on how well made it was. This one felt like the quality was there, the acting was validated, and the … Continue reading →
All the C-drama buzz and chatter the last three weeks have been solely on Youku romance drama The Early Spring and boy was this a controversial watch with the differing viewer opinions/arguments on the leads romance almost as entertaining as the drama itself. It’s also rather apropos that the first modern hit C-drama after The First Frost last year is … Continue reading →
After so much behind-the-scenes drama around the casting and production prep for period politics and romance C-drama Revenge it’s a relief to see the drama actually start filming. Starring Zhang Ling He and Lu Yu Xiao, the two play young sweethearts torn apart when his crown prince character is assassinated and she marries his younger brother the new crown prince … Continue reading →
The decreased C-drama production this year means that the pickiest of stars will be back on the small screen even more infrequently, and one of them is actor Wu Lei. At least he’s left me two dramas I can rewatch in Love Like the Galaxy and Amidst a Snowstorm of Love so that it’s not entirely fallow ground. It’s also … Continue reading →
The comeback of Song Zu Er continues unabated and with the slowdown in the number of C-dramas being greenlit for production it’s even incredible that she continues to roll from one drama set into the next. She’s just started filming modern thriller C-drama Cold Silent Night (Han Ye Wu Sheng 寒夜无声) adapted from the same name novel. Her male lead … Continue reading →
I think this project of all the recent year rumors with C-actress Zhao Lu Si‘s return to acting is genuinely likely to go forward. The actress is reportedly going to star in 10-episode modern C-drama Farewell Letters, adapted from the novel Thirteen Suicide Letters by German writer Kostin Gill. She is self-producing the drama hence the industry take this one … Continue reading →
So you can either take away that long running rumors that C-actress Jing Tian is majorly connected with a powerful backer since her debut are true and once again a scandal with her is being downplayed, or that the general public just hates when a scorned person in love tries to take down an ex. Either reason, or a mixture … Continue reading →
I’m so amused by the title for this C-drama and honestly love that it doesn’t include the words blossom, spring, power, or love. Yay for creativity lol! The wuxia detective period C-drama Leopard in Seclusion (豹隐南山 Bao Yin Nan Shan or Leopard in Seclusion in South Mountain) is slated to kick off filming in a few weeks, at the end … Continue reading →
Year ago this drama’s ups and downs wouldn’t even generate much gossip but in the year where there are so few current dramas filming this is definitely gotten attention. Xianxia C-drama Love in the Shell (长生骨 Chang Sheng Gu or Long Life Bone) starring Yu Shu Xin and Hou Ming Hao is back to filming, which normally isn’t a weird … Continue reading →
I don’t think the the casting and production issues around period romance C-drama Revenge (刺棠 Ci Tang) with Zhang Ling He and Lu Yu Xiao are all that unusual or even more than the usual shenanigans that befall a lot of other C-dramas before it. But due to the noticeable decrease of new C-dramas heading into production this year, there … Continue reading →
Another day another disappointing outing for a C-drama. Hunan TV and Mango produced period politics and romance C-drama Royal Betrothal wrapped its run recently and got really slammed on Douban with an opening rating of 4.9. Dipping below 5 is a real zinger and sign that this isn’t just a bad drama it’s got people who watched it mad enough … Continue reading →
As expected and discussed, since big budget C-dramas heading into production are few and far between, C-actress Zhao Lu Si is now adding producer and director to her resume with the production of her first self-financed drama. It’s titled Sonder: I am Not NPC with the tagline “I am the protagonist in my life script!” and deals with four women … Continue reading →
