I’ve written too many recaps to count but it all starts from one common impetus – a drama that hooks my heart snugly in its entertaining embrace. Be it a rom-com with potential for romantic swooning, an action thriller that launches with rollicking tension, or a melodrama that promises tears and catharsis aplenty, I have to really connect to want … Continue reading →
Keeping myself busy all week has been a godsend in terms of not going loony from the wait for Friday to arrive. It’s double the dose of drama goodness and there’s an early peek at what episode 19 of In a Good Way has in store with the just released written preview. It’s funny how there is no mention of … Continue reading →
Bride of the Century appears to have finished filming, a good two weeks in advance of it’s last episode. That’s a feat more dramas need to emulate since it avoids the actors looking half dead by the final stretch and the drama coming across as haphazard and choppy. I don’t know if this drama just managed to be efficient with … Continue reading →
When I read Tong Hua‘s other novels, it was easy to have favorite chapters and even favorite volumes, but that didn’t happen with Lost You Forever. There is always something to savor in each chapter, each with a crescendo and a comfortable lull that is pivotal to building the narrative. That probably also comes with loving all the leads so … Continue reading →
I’m still scratching my head about Korea’s remake of My Queen, the popular TW-drama that was good but not great enough to really deserve the story getting retold in the upcoming tvN drama Witch’s Romance. I suppose if you told me that Koreans weren’t going to watch the original with subs and needed a K-version to check out the story, … Continue reading →
The wildly fun plot and snappy execution of Bride of the Century gives so much fodder for discussion that the acting of the leads hasn’t been parsed as much. Lee Hong Ki is doing a fine job but lucked out on playing a great character in Choi Kang Joo – all the chaebol arrogance with plenty of quick-witted banter that … Continue reading →
I’m super stoked for the arrival of We Got Married Global Edition season 2 with one of the couples being the highly likely to be hilarious together Kim Heechul of Super Junior and Puff Guo of Dream Girls. Of course they can swap war stories about being a member of a popular idol group, or they can borrow a page … Continue reading →
Despite being in the thick of live filming for their popular SETTV drama In a Good Way, drama leads Kirsten Jen and Lego Lee jetted off to Hong Kong for a few days this week to attend the Hong Kong International Film Festival, which doesn’t showcase just movies but also television programs. Taiwan dramas have always has a solid footing … Continue reading →
The upcoming SBSÂ drama Angel Eyes is poised to take over in less than two weeks after Thrice Married Woman wraps up this weekend. I feel like that time slot for SBS has been a steady stream of painful to watch dramas that are admittedly quality written fare, from Birth Secret to Goddess of Marriage and now to Thrice Married Woman. … Continue reading →
The written preview is out for Bride of the Century episode 11 and it’s as deliciously tantalizing as always. Clearly Doo Rim has to explain the whole substitute princess bit to Kang Joo and gain his forgiveness, especially how it went as far as her marrying Kang Joo as Yi Kyung. But now that President Ma has kidnapped Doo Rim … Continue reading →
This chapter starts the second volume of the novel Lost You Forever. This volume has the English title Love You Forever and really does spend a lot of time on that pesky feeling called love. I think it’s safe now to reveal my personal preferences in this novel, I kept it close to the vest so I don’t influence readers … Continue reading →
A drama can only have on interrupted/aborted kiss attempt between the OTP. Anything beyond one and the audience will revolt, with me leading the pack and the pitchforks, of course. Thank goodness In a Good Way hasn’t crossed that line, with an interrupted kiss between Jia En and Liu Chuan in episode 16 that has paved the way for the … Continue reading →
I was pretty underwhelmed with the super moody first promos for the upcoming MBC weekend drama Hotel King. It’s the drama most anticipated for the high profile reunion of My Girl popular leads Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae, but also boasts a sprawling revenge melodrama topic and a huge cast including Wang Ji Hye, Im Seulong, Alex, Gong … Continue reading →
