My missing my Yoo Seung Ho radar pings me on a regular basis, but when it pinged today I was surprised since I’ve got lots of cracktastic dramas on my plate plus a dense novel translation project I didn’t think I had time to miss him. Clearly my koala sense was telling me that my boy was making yet another … Continue reading →
The Wed-Thurs battle has petered out recently with three dramas that are all tightly bunched together in the low teen digits in ratings. I can’t say Three Days, Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation), or Sly and Single Again are all dull dramas to have nothing pop out as the forerunner, but none of the three capture my interest is is … Continue reading →
There has never been an episode of Bride of the Century where I felt like nothing much happened. It’s always the other way around, where too much happens and I’m trying to sift through it all while containing all the emotions threatening to burst out of me. Kang Joo and Doo Rim’s private wedding was lovely but the drama keeps … Continue reading →
Am I being too snarky if I say that Aaron Yan pairing up with Tia Li for the upcoming SETTV Sunday night idol drama Fall in Love with Me feels like Barbie meeting Ken? It can’t be denied that both are ridiculously pretty in a manga character way, and a wee bit plasticky onscreen when emoting is called for and … Continue reading →
I’m really looking forward to the upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Big Man but it doesn’t seem the be garnering a lot of pre-airing interest. I love two of the leads in Kang Ji Hwan and Jung So Min, and the other two leads being Daniel Choi and Lee Da Hee are cool with me as well. I think this foursome … Continue reading →
Bride of the Century has been confirmed as a 16-episode drama, which was what I thought all along until those 20-episode chatter started. I’m both happy and sad, thrilled it’s not going to drag out any conflict to fill ten more episodes, but of course sad that there is just six more episodes left to spend with this delightfully loopy … Continue reading →
SBS has already locked down its first Summer drama in It’s Okay, It’s Love with Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung but MBC isn’t that far behind with the first news reports are out that the rumored remake of the popular Taiwan drama Fated to Love You will be getting a prime Wed-Thurs slot on MBC this Summer. It’s Okay, … Continue reading →
Holy jeebus what did I just watch? Episode 9 of Bride of the Century was insane, but improbably insane in all ways that make for excellent television. It’s like a train wreck of narrative piling on that shouldn’t work but instead works marvelously. I was alternatively shocked and thrilled, seething and swooning, this is exactly how a K-drama can pull … Continue reading →
I don’t think the eternal doubt and worry about the future ever goes away. It’s not like once a student graduates college and hopefully picks a starting path in life that it’s set in stone or that it’ll work out. In A Good Way is first and foremost a college drama and it tackles questions that actually resonate no matter … Continue reading →
This Friday could not possible be any busier with the double dose of drama awesome in both In a Good Way and Bride of the Century. I can only tackle one at a time in terms of preview and recaps and taking breaks for squeeing and hoping I can mentally and emotionally survive until tomorrow. Episode 19 of In a … Continue reading →
LOL, I think my sweet precious darling perfect In A Good Way is getting a bit of its Friday thunder stolen by Bride of the Century. BotC was formerly airing Sat-Sun but its unexpected popularity led the network to switch the airing to Fri-Sat. Not that the two dramas are competing in any way, shape, or form other than for … Continue reading →
Doo Rim and Kang Joo get married in Bride of the Century. They really really get married. I guess they have to get married, considering the title involves a bride. Someone has to be the bride. Thank god it’s not self-absorbed Yi Kyung or Roo Mi with her raging cluelessness that the guy does not like you – the curse … Continue reading →
I showed my sister a scene from Bride of the Century and told her who Lee Hong Ki was and she did a double take and went “omo, that’s the dude who played Jeremy?” That’s pretty much been the exact same reaction anytime a non-Lee Hong Ki fan who has only ever encountered him via You’re Beautiful reacts in seeing him … Continue reading →
