Cha Seung Won was reportedly offered the co-starring role with Han Suk Kyu for the upcoming MBC mega-sageuk called Unprecedented which was to follow after Empress Ki. But this past week has seen major scheduling ripples within MBC suggesting Unprecedented may get pushed back to accommodate Han Suk Kyu’s movie schedule so MBC is scrambling to find something else to … Continue reading →
It’s nice to welcome the new year of 2014 with the first K-drama recap of a great episode of the still wonderful Prime Minister and I. This drama continues to thrum along with all the right beats even if all the narrative milestones are nothing new to behold. A good drama has to have multiple layers so that the conflict isn’t … Continue reading →
It’s been two weeks since there was a new episode of Empress Ki and I’m interested to see if the drama returns from its hiatus with renewed vigor and a jump start on what had became a rather plodding love triangle plus palace intrigue combo. I thought if the drama ratings increased steadily it would have past 30 by now … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to how into the drama I am that when I see Yoon Si Yoon hugging Yoona in the latest stills for Prime Minister and I, I started screaming “get your hands off her, you jackass!” before realizing I was yelling at my baby Si Yoon. His character Kang In Ho is turning into an easy target to … Continue reading →
I find myself heaving a sigh of relief that the red hot success of In A Good Way hasn’t affected both its casting chemistry or its story narrative. What’s happened so far with all the characters comes across as planned in advance rather than any wonky rewriting on the fly going on. This past weekend the cast gathered with over … Continue reading →
I thought IRIS 2 was one of the biggest busts of the 2013 year considering its massive cast and astronomical budget. KBS pretty much took a wash on it and in the process wasted some of my favorite leading men in Jang Hyuk and Lee Bum Soo in yet another stinker. KBS has more than made up for it with … Continue reading →
I have hundreds of beautiful headers all created by talented kindred spirits in the drama watching field and it’s a joy for me whenever I click on AKP to see which headers pops up. I hope it is for you, too. Some dramas (or actors/actresses) have more headers than others but the frequency by which I encounter them is by … Continue reading →
Ariel Lin has been taking a sabbatical from her red-hot acting career to pursue a lifelong dream to study abroad. Since September of 2013 she’s been in London doing a graduate program but has been updating her social media accounts regularly so her fans are still getting updates on her non-acting life as a regular student. I’ve also seen Ariel … Continue reading →
It’s a new year in J-doramas as well and the first one on my check-out list is Shitsuren Chocolatier (失恋ショコラティエ Heartbroken Chocolatier) with Matsumoto Jun and Ishihara Satomi. It’s based on a manga of the same name and for once it’s a manga I haven’t read despite it being highly acclaimed, having won the 36th Kodansha Manga Award for best … Continue reading →
Last week Empress Ki fans lost out on two new episodes of the drama but won out on seeing the entire main cast attending the MBC Drama Awards and taking home lots of trophies including the coveted top prize Daesang for Ha Ji Won. I understand the rationale for awarding the Daesang (or even acting prizes) to actors and actresses … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to how much I’ve grown to love Yoona that I even think her SNSD group mates swinging by the Prime Minister and I set for a visit is the cutest sweetest thing ever. I don’t follow K-pop in the slightest but I remain perplexed by the popularity of SNSD since it appears to be just a huge … Continue reading →
Episode 8 of In A Good Way was chock full of the delicious goodness we’ve come to expect from this drama, but unlike episode 7 which ended on a calming note this episode stopped on a moment when I was literally screaming “nooooooo…..” I’m sure it’s a trolling feint because this is not anything remotely like a tense thriller drama. I … Continue reading →
This almost isn’t worth writing about because it might be one of the worst kept “secrets” among K-ent dating celebrities. One would have to ignore mountains of evidence to believe that long rumored couple Jung Kyung Ho and Sooyoung of SNSD were not dating as per their agencies pooh-pooh-ing all the past tabloid reports. I guess the third time’s the … Continue reading →
