All my gushing over In A Good Way on Friday nights makes it seem like the only TW-drama airing that night but there is actually The Pursuit of Happiness with Sonia Sui and Tony Yang over on GTV that just ended last Friday. TPoH was from the production team behind the popular hit In Time With You with Ariel Lin … Continue reading →
I’m rather torn about the phenomenal success of You From Another Star. On one hand I like it enough and my quibbles rather inconsequential so its success doesn’t rankle me in the least. On the other hand this drama really is not all that good and it’s shaping up to be another The Moon Embraces the Sun where the success isn’t … Continue reading →
The lead up to the the first big C-celebrity wedding of 2014 has been nothing shy of a media overload. I was getting exhausted by all the Yang Mi–Hawick Lau wedding preparations even though its only been less than two months since they announced their wedding, which we all remember was on the same high profile news day that Nicky … Continue reading →
It’s starting to sound like a broken record that I keep saying Pretty Boy (Bel Ami) is really not bad at all. Since the drama is ending tomorrow in a swish of happy rainbows judging from the just released kissing stills of leads Jang Geun Seok and IU, humor me one last time as I bid farewell to an inoffensive … Continue reading →
Is the third time a charm for the I Need Romance franchise? I sure hope so and we’ll find out when I Need Romance 3 premieres next Monday on tvN. The cast attended a press conference today where I think leading lady Kim So Yeon‘s entire sartorial concept was “Go wow them!”. She showed up in a red off-the-shoulder Herve … Continue reading →
I confess to not noticing the age gap in the OTP in Prime Minister and I. It’s not being blind to Lee Bum Soo being much older than Yoona, it just doesn’t stand out in the context of their characters or interactions. I see a closed off man with emotional baggage from a past marriage and a spirited woman falling … Continue reading →
This is too good not to just come flat out and share – the word “kiss” appears in the written preview for episode 10 of Prime Minister and I. IÂ was flailing like a fish out of water by that alone but the context makes it even better. This is going to be a looooong week waiting for the next episode … Continue reading →
Having joined the cast of the soon to air KBS drama Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation) late, it’s no wonder Kim Jae Wook hasn’t been in many promotional materials for the drama other than looking like he was poorly photo shopped into the full cast poster. Originally Lee Sun Ho (Tamra the Island, Mary Stayed Out All Night) was supposed … Continue reading →
Casting is pretty much a done deal for the upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama following Miss Korea and it’s going to be Lee Min Jung and Joo Sang Wook for the rom-com Cunning Single Lady. This drama is being produced by Fantagio Entertainment and will be MBC’s first prime time rom-com in years. In 2013 the network had nary a rom-com … Continue reading →
By all that is holy in dramaland I freaking love love LOVE this drama! Prime Minister and I ended this week on a rousing high note for episode 9 which was every bit as funny, touching, nerve-wracking, and totally satisfying as every episode before it all wrapped into one delicious treat. Why oh why is this drama only two episodes … Continue reading →
My smiling face this morning was seriously beaming rays of joy after watching two fantastic new episodes of competing Mon-Tues K-dramas Empress Ki and Prime Minister and I (recap coming!), plus I’m finally over the most hellacious cold and jet lag combo ever. It’s like the clouds have parted and I can hear the birds singing. This week’s two episodes … Continue reading →
In a low-key and unsurprising development, Mike He celebrated his birthday recently and revealed that he’s been exempt from Taiwan’s mandatory military service, making him the last of the group of male idol stars including Joe Cheng, Ethan Ruan, and Ming Dao who delayed their service until the very end of the age limit. While the other three all served … Continue reading →
Episode 19 of Empress Ki was interesting. I’m not sure what to think other than one ship appears to have sunk rather precipitously, though I never could understand how it was even sailing in the first place. The return of Seung Nyang to her Goryeo countrymen also brought back the freedom for her to speak her mind and boy did … Continue reading →
