I didn’t want to post about this until the official news outlets started talking about it, but last week in an unrelated post the subject of the upcoming K-drama Miss Korea came up and in the comments section I discussed how Lee Yeon Hee was unofficially the leading lady SM wanted for the role. This week the media confirmed the … Continue reading →
This might be the fastest and hardest I have ever seen a Kim Eun Sook male lead fall for the female lead. I thought I’d seen it all with the infamous Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin) from Secret Garden when he took one gander at the stunt woman in action Ha Ji Won and fell head over heels for Key … Continue reading →
Unf, when drama love arrives, it hurts so so good. Marry Him If You Dare started off solidly enough but episode 2 vaulted this one from like to love for me. All the leads are getting fleshed out as the narrative barrels full speed ahead, leaving me fairly scrambling to absorb too much information and trying to arrange it in … Continue reading →
Awwww, I really love this particular still of Lee Min Ho from the latest batch just released by SBS for Heirs/The Inheritors. This set is the third featuring the OTP of Eun Sang and Kim Tan hanging out, and it’s probably the best of the lot. The ones where he was all “It’s okay, baby!” and the set from the … Continue reading →
Actress and producer Ruby Lin is one savvy woman with great taste in men, both in real life and for her drama counterparts. This is the girl who dated Jimmy Lin (forever young and super smart with his career and family life) and likely dated both Alec Su and Wallace Huo as well. I’ve become her fan late in her … Continue reading →
Whenever I take a break from dramas and check out the Asian movie offerings, there is always bound to be a surprising treat I never knew about until now. This past weekend a romance movie premiered in Japan called Hidamari no Kanojo (陽だまりの彼女, translated to Girl in the Sunny Place) starring two leads I like but never thought about pairing … Continue reading →
My October drama present season continues with the premiere of Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) on KBS Mon-Tues timeslot. This was an odd week ratings-wise since MBC had to pre-empt its new episode of Goddess of Fire due to an overly long baseball game, so for the first episode MHIYD came in with a decent 9.7% ABG ratings … Continue reading →
I’m enjoying the chance to watch Heirs/The Inheritors with all the hype over and done with. Those who liked it can keep watching, those who didn’t can move on, and those rubbernecking for the trainwreck will find nothing to gawk over. Despite all its flaws, this one is not a hot mess it could have been. That’s a relief because … Continue reading →
Precocious and preternaturally talented child actors appears to be a dime a dozen in the world of K-dramas, in breadth and depth easily surpassing the other Asian countries and their stable of kid actors. In the modern era of K-dramas since the dawn of Hallyu, there have been a handful of faces seen as the child counterpart of famous leads … Continue reading →
After having a few days to fully process the premiere two episodes of Heirs/The Inheritors, I find myself actually liking it more despite acknowledging even more flaws in it. I can’t explain it other than this one is purely a personal preference thingie. The acting has been mostly lackluster and the narrative overwhelmingly obvious, but a few of the characters … Continue reading →
I quite like the onscreen pairing of Bolin Chen and Ivy Chen, and with this upcoming movie it will be their third outing together. Ivy and Bolin attended a movie press conference this weekend for the December premiere of their school yard rom-com movie Campus Confidential. The Chinese title is actually much cuter – it’s called 愛情無全順 (Ai Qing Wu … Continue reading →
How come no one told me my baby Seol Chan won an award! My bad, Seol Chan is just a character, he’s not really real, despite Yong Jun Hyung delivering a stellar rookie actor performance in making him feel so very real. The Korea Drama Awards took place earlier this month on October 2nd and I honestly paid no heed and … Continue reading →
This coming Monday is the premiere of Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice, with the alternative title of Future’s Choice). While the hype hasn’t been anywhere near the degree of Heirs, it’s got its own set of popular acting leads and an idol star so its been receiving plenty of attention as well. Yoon Eun Hye returns to her … Continue reading →
