In an attempt to procrastinate starting my year end reviews, I started wasting time pondering random thoughts concerning the 2012 K-drama landscape. Aside from good and bad dramas, I realized I could actually pinpoint the breakouts of this year (and the un-breakouts, those who were flying high only to hit a dud this year), which actually were quite a few. … Continue reading →
Horikita Maki is one of my favorite J-actresses but I don’t post about her much since she hasn’t done a J-dorama I’ve liked in years. Her last dorama I watched all the way through was Atashinchi no Danshi back in 2009, and only because it had so many hot guys in it (Mukai Osamu, Kaname Jun, Yamamoto Yusuke) because otherwise … Continue reading →
Why does Jung Woo keep getting all grabbity with Soo Yeon? Seriously writer? Why the need to make him so physically aggressive towards her? I think one huge problem I have with this drama is that it insists on making Jung Woo the POV character when really it ought to be Soo Yeon. Sigh. I just watched the preview for … Continue reading →
Wow, that a difference a day and an episode can make. I freaking loved episode 2 of Cheongdamdong Alice! Woo hoo, this is more like it. It still has some awkwardness and needs more narrative clarity, but all the interwoven threads are set in place and there are lots of understandable stakes everywhere. Two episodes in and I can safely … Continue reading →
I’m sorry to have to do this but I’m officially dropping my Miss Rose recaps. I’m planning to keep watching and will bring the previews every week, but I don’t have the desire to recap the episodes anymore since one-half of the OTP has completely and utterly lost me. I have no idea what the writers are thinking in slowly … Continue reading →
How can they be SOOOOO cute together? Why does my heart do flip flops of happiness anytime my Dream High perfect perfect OTP of Kim Soo Hyun and Suzy are reunited? But forget about me, just look at her grinning like a doofus at him! If Suzy hasn’t admitted already that she has a crush on her Soo Hyun oppa, … Continue reading →
I was unusually exhausted this morning and when I decided to stay in bed and watch the first episode of Cheongdamdong Alice, I almost fell back asleep because it was so underwhelming. This is definitely not what I had hoped for, though the lacklustre promotional materials did lower my expectations considerably so it wasn’t that much of a let down. … Continue reading →
LOL, is this even news? Around here them parts it sure is. Especially since coming of legal age means said actor gets to graduate from the object of ICOMYM affection. Shin Won Ho turned 21 last month and I’ve simply been too busy to devote a post about it. When I say he turned 21, I mean 21 in Western … Continue reading →
Looks like Ivy Chen is continuing her quest to star opposite as many hot K-actors as possible. Following her turn opposite Super Junior‘s Choi Si Won and Lee Donghae in Skip Beat, she followed that up with a C-drama with Chun Jung Myung earlier this year. She’s been filming successive C-dramas in China all year but last month she went back … Continue reading →
Oh Roy, is that ring for me? I do, I do, I do! Just tell me when and where and I’ll supply my own white dress. As Miss Rose turns the corner from corporate espionage and clingy exes, Cheng Kuan stays true to his feelings and never once wavers in the face of never ending opposition and tricks from his … Continue reading →
Forget the universe-aligning perfect casting trio of Park Shin Hye, Yoon Si Yoon, and Kim Ji Hoon in the upcoming cable network tvN drama Flower Boy Next Door. That is already so awesome every post I’ve written about it has devolved into fangirling screeching that I confess to being the instigator of. What? Like y’all aren’t having tons of fun … Continue reading →
Chapter 55 is really a long overdue moment for Xu Ping Jun and Meng Jue to talk again. It’s probably been years since these two really had a heart-to-heart, not since a young Xu Ping Jun begged Meng Jue for help so that she didn’t marry her betrothed and could be together with Liu Bing Yi (Liu Xun). What I … Continue reading →
2012 has been Jung So Min‘s comeback year after bursting out of the gate in 2010 with two high profile dramas in Bad Guy and Playful Kiss. She took 2011 off from acting to go back to school and in her return to acting has been less high profile, taking on a role in the sitcom Standby followed by playing … Continue reading →
