Oh gosh, the second teaser for Nice Guy makes me salivate for this drama like you won’t believe. I think melodramas have gotten a bad rep in recent years because the plot devices used to generate the melo and the dramatic have been increasingly ridiculous and far-fetched. It wasn’t always so, and perhaps my favorite melo of all time What … Continue reading →
Waiting for an actor who who just completed military service to return to the screen can be a quick and painless or protracted experience. Some line up projects while they are still in the army, like Kim Rae Won with Thousand Day Promise, and others wait over a year before returning to the screen, like Jae Hee in Color of … Continue reading →
I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but I’m sorta okay with Asahina pushing Hyuga out of Next Innovation. Hyuga is not measured by what he has achieved or accumulated in terms of success or wealth, but by his desire to innovate and create. This is a man who would have no problem doing it all over again, … Continue reading →
Two days into the new week, I’m already rolling around in the collective awesome of yet another amazing episode of Miss Rose, which was followed a day later by a jawdroppingly great episode of Rich Man, Poor Woman. If this is a sign of generous drama powers at work, then I expect Arang and the Magistrate to literally blow my … Continue reading →
Oh man, episode 8 of Rich Man, Poor Woman was about as awesome as episode 6 was shitty. Which means this episode was insanely ridiculously awesome. This dorama is turning out to be slightly bipolar, but it does keep me on my toes. Remember “the walk” scene from episode 7, try upping that in the final 5 minutes of episode 8 … Continue reading →
Wahhhh, supreme daebak! Episode 5 of Miss Rose easily jumped over a point in ratings and broke 4 to land on 4.35 for the night. This puts MR on track with Office Girls, and with the drama being much more romance focused and less office politics than OG, I think the Taiwan audience is fully onboard this train and can … Continue reading →
Is it me, or does Nice Guy feel like its take forever to arrive? Every time I check, Gaksital is still on and we’re still weeks away from NG. This is probably due to the drama starting to film so early, then getting delayed due to Gaksital’s extension. Perhaps for a drama I was less interested, I’d probably check out … Continue reading →
Sometimes a coupling works well in certain mediums but I have no desire to see it transcend beyond that. Kang Ji Hwan and Son Dambi was just paired up for a W Korea pictorial that supposedly depicts a pair of mysterious lovers. With black and white pictures and scenes shot in a hotel with the couple being all sexy and … Continue reading →
My extreme jet lag is your boon, since being awake in the middle of the night means finally getting around to recapping episode 4 of Miss Rose. It was as wonderful as watching it the first time around, this time with more appreciation of how the story is really developing Si Yi and Cheng Kuan’s relationship. Right now they are … Continue reading →
Whenever I travel around Asia I love to watch network television not for the programs but for the CFs. The commercials are always fun and colorful, and also gives me a better idea of who and what is popular. Mike He has been notably absent from TW-dramas for the past year since he wrapped Love Keeps Going (so bad I … Continue reading →
DId anyone watch Let’s Go Watch Meteor Shower? You know, China’s adaptation of Hana Yori Dango? It’s terrible, but I watched it all for Hans Zhang, playing the role of Domyouji Tsukasa. His leading lady was Zheng Shuang as the C-version of Makino, and since starring in the two C-HanaDans, they’ve also worked on a movie and another drama together. … Continue reading →
One thing that I love about J-ent is how it’s range of leading men span the spectrum from oh-holy-so-good-looking to HOMG-where’d-he-come-from-but-he-sure-can-act. Whereas in Korea and Taiwan the leading men tend to just be very pretty, all of them so very pretty and sometimes indistinguishable from each other in style and aura. This led me to remember a series of fun … Continue reading →
I’m still pinching myself despite posting multiple times about the Kim Bum and Ariel Lin collaboration for the Echitoo Fall ad campaign. Fandoms colliding is a magical and interesting experience, one which either works or fails spectacularly. Everything about the Bummie and Ariel couples shoot for Echitoo screams Epic Amazeballs. Ariel looks younger than her age while Bummie channels a … Continue reading →
