A couple of weeks ago I had dinner with some girlfriends (wub you, LizzyD and Xiaoxin!) and discussed my Jun Ki’s first post-army project. We went through the available leading ladies and settled on Moon Geun Young or Yoon Eun Hye as great possibilities and prayed for that to happen. Fast forward a few weeks, and not only am I … Continue reading →
It’s nice to be well established movie stars in Korea, because when they pair up and have a movie premiere, all your pretty and talented colleagues show up to support you. Love Fiction with Gong Hyo Jin and Ha Jung Woo held its celebrity-filled movie premiere this past weekend and it was a veritable who’s who of attendees. The movie is … Continue reading →
Finally! After years apart and tons of unresolved issues, Yi Zhi Xie and Yu Er finally meet face-to-face. To no one’s surprise, the guy is clearly not over her, but whether it’s from guilt or love is hard to distinguish. It’s the old adage that with the pursuit of power comes the inevitable sacrifice. I think it telling that the … Continue reading →
The super duper adorable part 1 of the full-length MV for Lee Seung Gi‘s debut Japanese single “Alone in Love” (also called “Time for Love”) has been released. It’s a cute uptempo ballad, and the MV features Park Shin Hye rocking the gorgeous shoulder length wavy do and doing her version of the Cocktail scene. Not much to say about … Continue reading →
Looks like Nicky Wu will never do another Qing dynasty drama again, because I’m getting the sense that he really really loves his hair. I probably would too if I had to shave it off for a good half a year and wear a braid hair piece around. Nicky’s upcoming C-drama held a press conference this week to announce the … Continue reading →
This might just be the best chapter of Da Mo Yao so far. Might, but I can’t say for certain because I love this novel so much it’s hard to play chapter favorites. But this chapter rocks so hard it should win a prize for effectively blending action, romance, and emotional angst into one perfect package. If Huo Qu Bing … Continue reading →
Man, being mopey sucks. Even cool things only elicit an “eh” from me, and maybe a taut eyebrow raise before I go back to pitifully pouting in the corner. Two of the bigger-named upcoming K-dramas continues to slowly release teaser bits and pieces. The King 2 Hearts starring Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi dropped the first still of the … Continue reading →
[Seriously? Still depressed, which sucks, because this chapter is so so good. I’ve decided that if Hu Ge doesn’t end up being Huo Qu Bing, it doesn’t matter because he’s HQB in my novel translation version. So. There. Suck on that, Tangren!] I’m going to take issues with Tong Hua‘s title for this chapter of Da Mo Yao. Not only … Continue reading →
Yay! My Heon oppa is coming back to the small screen. It’s been over a year since Song Seung Heon dropped a charming performance in the uneven My Princess, and surprisingly had marvelous chemistry with leading lady Kim Tae Hee. This time around he’s switching gears from rom-com to fantasy sageuk. He’s considering, and likely the casting is pretty much … Continue reading →
Sorry guys, I’m so pissed off right now I’m actually shaking from anger. I might be putting my Da Mo Yao translations on temporary hiatus, despite the fact that the next few chapters are the most exhilarating things I’ve read in years and have had the pleasure of translating. I can’t think straight right now because Tangren has decided to … Continue reading →
This was a hard chapter to translate, because it was a hard chapter to read. Lest we forget, Da Mo Yao is set during a period of the Han dynasty where the empire was expanding and engaged in bitter warfare with their main rivals the Xiong Nu tribe. In volume 1, Huo Qu Bing went off to war while Yu … Continue reading →
The upcoming K-drama The King 2 Hearts (formerly known simply as The King) finally released pictures of its first script reading. Starring Lee Seung Gi as a South Korean Prince turned King who falls in love with a North Korean agent played by Ha Ji Won in a fictional Korea setting. Second leads will be played Lee Yoon Ji and Jo … Continue reading →
Now that emo mopey smurf is out of the picture (for the time being), Da Mo Yao returns to the action-packed scale of the earlier chapters in volume 1. Yu Er finally is back in Xi Yu, and headed into Xiong Nu territory soon. She’s too busy learning to ride a horse and training her new disciple that she hardly … Continue reading →
