So, yeah, I haz got the playground a new website design. Thumbs up or down? I definitely know we’ll all be giving a gigantic thumbs down (and maybe a certain finger) at SBS for being even stingier this week than last week in terms of the previews for the upcoming episodes of Lie to Me. I know some people are … Continue reading →
Jerry Yan may be one of the most A-list of Taiwanese actors, but he’s notoriously picky with his projects so he doesn’t have as many completed works under his belt compared to some of his contemporaries. For the last two years it’s been a game of Where’s Jerry for the TW-media. Since filming Down With Love with Ella two years … Continue reading →
GUH. *Incoherent spazzing* I need. I want. I must have. CTS released a 25-minute preview for the upcoming TW-drama Material Queen, starring Vanness Wu and Lynn Xiong. I watched it with stars in my eyes, totally entranced by the story and the indescribably beautiful cinematography. MQ is helmed by the PD who did one of the prettiest TW-dramas in the … Continue reading →
The first half of 2011 has been surprisingly slim on sageuks. Other than The Duo (PIE!!! I promise I will finish you!) and King Geunchogo, it’s been everything other than a walk on the period storytelling side. That’s all about to change in the second half of the year, beginning with two new sageuks premiering in July. The first to hit … Continue reading →
So I checked out episode one of Love Keeps Going which premiered last Sunday with a respectable 1.84, which is about what its predecessor drama Sunny Happiness averaged during its run. I kept my expectations low and my biases in check just to see if the story and execution worked for me. My verdict is this – Love Keeps Going better … Continue reading →
Every time there is a sparkling, sizzling, scorching new onscreen pairing, drama viewers of various persuasions suddenly feel this uncontrollable urge to scream at the screen: Just Date Already! I’ve been there, done that. It’s often exhilarating, but mostly painful since the number of co-stars who ended up dating is a tiny fraction of the amount of acting couplings out … Continue reading →
This is going to be a HUGE week in Drunken to Love You land. The ratings hit 4.89 last week, and the entire world knows that Joseph Chang and Tom Price are jumping in a pool shirtless if the ratings break 5. Luckily they get some help this week with the arrival of yet another male lead – Rainie Yang’s … Continue reading →
Kang Ji Hwan, one of the few K-stars I have made a valient effort to be a completist of his works because I adore him so much, is currently burning up the small screen with Yoon Eun Hye in Lie to Me. The drama doesn’t wrap until the end of June, but Ji Hwan has already lined up his next … Continue reading →
While I am nowhere near ready to start a new drama, and have so much backlog I’ll probably get to some by the year 2014, I do know that the early Summer drama I am most looking forward to is Heartstrings with Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa as students in a college musical department dealing with romance and … Continue reading →
This episode was so quiet and low-key, which stands out especially in stark contrast to the typical mile-a-minute narrative progression we’ve been getting in each preceding episode of Best Love (The Greatest Love). But it was a completely mellow episode like this that is the most memorable for me. I know it’s the calm before the storm, but I loved how we get … Continue reading →
If Kang Ji Hwan and Yoon Eun Hye don’t want me to blow a fuse in my shippy brain, they need to stop looking at each other the way they look at each other in BTS photos and videos of Lie to Me. It’s not good for my mental health, and I’ve pretty much lost all ability to discern the … Continue reading →
Taiwan news reports are confirming that TTV’s in development big-budget cultural rom-com (it’s being compare to the style and sophistication of Drunken to Love You) called Xiao Xian’s Beautiful Life has finally cast its two leads. I initially heard about this project when it was first attached to Ariel Lin and then Chen Qiao En, with the male lead always rumored to … Continue reading →
L.O.V.E. Just love. The first teaser trailer for the upcoming TW-drama adaptation of the popular Japanese manga Skip Beat has finally been released. The drama’s Chinese title is called 華麗的挑戰 (English literal translation being Extravagant Challenge) but it’s English title has been confirmed to mirror the manga and be called Skip Beat. The drama stars Ivy Chen (stepping in for … Continue reading →
