I missed the initial announcement for this upcoming sageuk drama but better late then never getting onboard. K-drama Return to the Palace (Korean title Ghost Palace) is getting underway soon and the leads will be Yook Sung Jae, Bona, and the most recent addition Kim Ji Hoon. It’s a supernatural/fantasy palace sageuk involving ghosts, grudges, shamans and the like and … Continue reading →
Am I ready to say goodbye to Lost You Forever and all the rich and multi-faceted characters that reside in the Vast Wilderness? Yes, I actually am, what with it being over ten years since I started the herculean task of translating the novel (three book in length) and with the conclusion of Lost You Forever with Part 2 coming … Continue reading →
So this was a weird little nothingburger of a rumor last week but definitely still entertaining for nickname bestowed. C-actress Xiang Han Zhi is currently filming the period C-drama Calming Waves with Wang Xing Yue and last week there was a hot rumor that the two were dating. It went to the top of the searches and spread wildly, and … Continue reading →
Well this is like more tea on top of the mountain of gossip already, so let’s get right to it. TW-actress Michelle Chen and C-actor Chen Xiao have been married for 8 years since 2016 after meeting on the set of the Yu Zheng abomination of the Return of the Condor Heroes and falling in love. There have been frequent … Continue reading →
I’ll take any dose of C-actor Wu Lei even if it’s not in any upcoming C-dramas. This month he was pictures attending fashion events in Milan and also at the Shanghai International Film Festival back home, all sporting a new haircut that I’m divided about. I think he still looks good but the hair has too much messiness around the … Continue reading →
So the pacing for C-drama The Double has been quite an art itself, very measured yet brisk. Hard to explain other than the drama moves along on a nice beat with enough action and exposition coupled with pauses for artistic flourish. So it’s been wild seeing the last four episodes which dropped this weekend to end the drama unfold like … Continue reading →
Once again, if Byun Woo Seok‘s agency is orchestrating these articles please stop. It’s turning his incredible rise thanks to Lovely Runner into overkill. This week he’s been off attending an European fashion show, then doing his Asian overseas fan meeting, and missed the group reward vacation for the drama, and once again his every move has been making K-ent … Continue reading →
The tvN period drama Jung Nyeon is one of the high profile projects on deck for later this year, adapted from a well regarded feminist empowerment webtoon and starring award winning and popular actress Kim Tae Ri. It’s basically has prestige piece written all over it and is also set in the post Korean war era so will delve in … Continue reading →
Buzz is a priceless thing and even all the water armies in the war and purchased searches can only buoy it a bit but can’t sustain it unlike the organic thing. June 2024 buzz goes to underdog hit The Double while mainstream big budget C-drama The Tale of Rose, reportedly the most expensive production filmed in 2023 due to the … Continue reading →
Most K-dramas however huge in ratings or buzz during the airing invariably dies down after it ends and other than diehard fans people move on. It’s rare to have a hit drama with a long tail and those feel like once a decade special occurrences. I say this because after Queen of Tears, which set the all time tvN ratings … Continue reading →
I’ve been exposed to too many C-drama unannounced air drops I’m just glad a streaming C-drama isn’t a giant elephant image that dropped on us announced lol. Air drops also don’t mean the drama is sucky and the platform wants to just squirrel it away though sometimes that is the case, it really depends and some reasons are due to … Continue reading →
It’s almost time to say goodbye to C-drama The Double and I am ready to finish this with a flourish without being sad to let it go. It’s already episode 36 of the run out of 40 episodes and the grand revenge plan has been satisfying along the way and prepped for the grand finale. In some ways, female lead … Continue reading →
Woo hoo, finally a coming K-drama I’m wildly excited about. Scheduling on tvN has confirmed that romance K-drama Is It Coincidence will be airing next month on July 22, 2024. It’s a high school to years later second chance romance starring Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeob that is based on a webtoon. And like the recent two year … Continue reading →
