Following on the heels of the start of script-reading and filming of Jang Nara’s Pretty Young Woman, two other Spring dramas have also commenced production. Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young’s City Hunter (SBS Wed-Thurs drama to follow 49 Days) and Mickey Yoochun and Lee Da Hae’s Goodbye Miss Ripley (MBC Mon-Tues drama to follow The Duo). Honestly, I’m … Continue reading →
GTV announced yesterday that shooting will commence on March 31, 2011 for Extravagant Challange, its long-delayed drama adaptation of the manga Skip Beat. The two male leads Choi Si Won and Lee Dong Hae of the K-pop group Super Junior will be arriving in Taiwan next week, and is expected to live there for four months during the shooting for … Continue reading →
Pretty, so very delectably young and pretty. Clinique chose Kim Soo Hyun and Jung So Min as the spokesmodels for its Moisture Surge line of moisturizer, and Vogue Girl filmed the photoshoot and released a cute little video showing both stars gamely primping and posing. Everything about this ad campaign is perfect, from the age-appropriate stars to the flirty Spring … Continue reading →
I’m going to treat 49 Days like my personal redemption project. I’m going to will it to keep getting better, and see if that works. If not, then I’m going to be in for a rough few weeks. Episode 3 was better than episode 2, which was better than episode 1, so the trend is happily still on an upward … Continue reading →
2011 has been a disappointment for me in terms of sageuks. 2010 had Chuno, which despite my torn feelings about it ultimately was a creative step forward for the genre, and Joseon X-Files, which was a brilliant masterpiece. None of the sageuks this year have enthralled me, but this might change come September 2011. Jang Hyuk has finally been confirmed … Continue reading →
I don’t normally post about how to buy products or where to get some goodies, but folks have been asking constantly so I shall oblige. Also, I feel really bad that the website has been horrifically glitchy for days now (it’s not you, it’s my host server and platform). But after taking an axe to my computer it appears that … Continue reading →
Upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Pretty Young Woman (also known as Youthful Beauty or Baby-Faced Beauty) held its first script reading session yesterday. This will be Jang Nara‘s return to K-dramas after working almost exclusively in China for the last few years. Her leading man has been confirmed as Daniel Choi, and the drama is directed by the PD who did … Continue reading →
I haven’t seen these three together in one place in a long time. Ariel Lin, Ethan Ruan, and Joe Cheng all attended the grand opening of “80’s Studio”, a hip and trendy hairdressing joint that recalls the hokey fake celebrity hair salon in The Magicians of Love. Seeing them together makes me long for Mike He to be there and complete … Continue reading →
Sunny Happiness has only a few more weeks of competitionless airing on Sunday nights. Drunken to Love You has been given the firm start date of April 17, 2011, which means Channel X has only a few more episodes to continue to torment me with its completely insane plot and acting. The production held a press conference over the weekend … Continue reading →
Looks like SBS is being extra nice with respect to releasing written previews early. Too bad the previews are very short and not terribly revealing. Boo, I want juicy previews. It’s hard to say how this week’s episodes will steer the drama, but I’m hoping to see more of Yi Kyung’s story. A combination of Nam Gyu Ri’s bad acting … Continue reading →
Best Subversive Casting Ever! I just realized that the upcoming MBC weekend drama Can You Hear My Heart has cast veteran Jung Bo Seok as the mentally disabled father of the lead actress character played Hwang Jung Eum. If anyone has watched all 60-episodes of Giant (truly an epic masterpiece), then you’ll likely ROFL along with me, because Jung Bo … Continue reading →
If you guys only knew how difficult this was to find. There were no torrents, no downloads, no streaming video – zip, zilch, nada. Episode 6 of the CTV airing of Sunny Happiness, which so happens to contain the complete uncut wedding night scene, was impossible to find after the episode aired this weekend. Word spread like wildfire that Mainland … Continue reading →
Come again? Man, K-dramas and their casting news oftentimes gives me severe whiplash. But then again, I did say that the rumored cast for the upcoming SBS drama Sweet Scandal was just that, a rumor. Thank god I hedged my bets, because looks like that casting ship is sinking fast. News broke yesterday that Park Shi Hoo is in final negotiations to … Continue reading →
