For once I’m glad the C-government gives no shits and works fast when it wants to put the hammer down. HK-actress Kathy Chow passed away unexpectedly this week and she had long resided in Beijing so her medical care and the calls to the police all happened in the city. After her passing, because the call to the police for … Continue reading →
The first trailer is out for Guardians of the Dafeng and I….I just can’t with this. It’s so absurd and not in an immediately endearing way, though I get what it’s going for. This drama preview has the tone of a classic Stephen Chow “mo lei tau” slapstick over-the-top physical ridiculousness written all over it, so you’re either going to … Continue reading →
Xianxia C-drama The Last Immortal premiered this week and is off to a solid start. The initial feedback is just okay, neither big criticism nor big praise, a solid start. Top billed female lead Zhao Lu Si showed her strength in buzz by her character breaking 9 in the daily VLinkage chart on the day of the drama premiere. She … Continue reading →
This feels like a dumb thing to do and I’m glad there is an immediate apology and acceptance of the transgression. This weekend’s episode 6 of Story of Park’s Marriage Contract showed female lead Lee Se Young designing avante garde hanboks as part of the storyline. After airing, a hanbok designer called out the production for ripping off her designs … Continue reading →
It feels like yet another star has fallen, or perhaps a star has gone to Heaven is more apt. A day after rumors abounded that HK-actress Kathy Chow had shockingly passed away, her agency confirmed the news of her demise on Weibo ending all the speculation. She indeed had fallen ill and was rushed to the hospital but could not … Continue reading →
Man, having fans as a C-star is kinda like having a pitbull as a pet, it’s loyal but you never know when it’s going to go crazy and attack others. Lost You Forever part 1 aired this summer and has become one of the biggest C-dramas of 2023 and fans are waiting for part 2 to drop hopefully in early … Continue reading →
To date K-actor Yoo Ah In‘s drug use scandal and now legal case is probably both the most famous K-star and the most serious level of drug use allegations. He has reportedly hired top expensive defense lawyers and hasn’t pled guilty so let’s see how his team tries to mitigate his legal trouble. The first trial date has been set … Continue reading →
There are countless instances of rumors that a star has passed away later debunked but still the ones that get pretty big tend to be sadly confirmed. This week is starting off with the shocking rumor that veteran HK-actress Kathy Chow (Zhou Hai Mei) has passed away. If it’s true she would have been 57 years old. The rumor started … Continue reading →
So this possible pairing is currently in the ideation stage and nowhere close to fruition but it still tickles my fancy. Liu Shi Shi is back in full time acting after having a baby three years ago and her currently airing A Journey to Love is a hit and she has Fox Spirit Matchmaker second season the Zhu Ye chapter … Continue reading →
I’m a little eyebrow raise on this statistic but whatevers, kudos to Tencent for drumming up interest in it’s new xianxia C-drama The Last Immortal as it hit 6 million reservations of viewers ahead of tomorrow’s premiere. I would have given Tencent’s record C-drama this year to The Longest Promise which had 5 million reservations but it didn’t break 6. … Continue reading →
So I think this is the straw the broke the camel’s back and not the first complaint from Tang Yan‘s fanclub about her agency (also known as workshop or production company). She’s opened her own agency and reps herself but her agency is staffed by her close confidantes and friends in various positions that she trust. This week her agency … Continue reading →
Like all C-dramas nowadays, the bigger the hit the more likely there is criticism, blowback, and nitpicking. I try to cover it even if I like the drama, this year the ones I liked My Journey to You, and Till the End of the Moon had plenty of naysayers, and the ones I didn’t The Longest Promise, Legend of Anle, … Continue reading →
Both My Demon and The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract premiered the same Friday three weeks ago and air on the same nights so it’s natural to compare them at least for ratings and entertainment value. I planned to watch both and 6-episodes in I am so addicted to both equally and thank the drama stars to have both around … Continue reading →
