This weekend was the 2023 iQiyi Scream Awards held in Macau and the young and pretty C-stars were out in attendance. This was a streaming platform event so the winners isn’t anything more that the platform paid to do their productions or will be doing one so it was more a social event than anything. I’m there for the C-actress … Continue reading →
This is an interesting drama to dissect because there are clearly so much elements at play. Modern workplace romance C-drama Only for Love with Bai Lu and Dylan Wang finished airing this week and a happy ending did nothing to help this drama elevate it’s uniformly bad reviews. I think even Dylan fans just stayed quiet because trying to compliment … Continue reading →
So this weekend it’s jam packed in K-drama land there is literally too many interesting dramas all airing at the same time so pick away at what strikes your fancy. SBS premiered My Demon in the Fri-Sat time slot and the opening ratings are 4.5% dropping the next night to 3.4%. This drama was never about ratings but more whether … Continue reading →
So it’s 13 years in jail and then expulsion for the country afterwards for former C-actor and top star Wu Yi Fan (Kris Wu). I don’t think I’ve seen a C-star fall from this high to this low but at least it gives the impression that the Chinese government when it wants to will mete out this level of punishment … Continue reading →
So I’m a little behind on all my dramas some that I intend to watch I just haven’t had the bandwidth to start and that includes recently premiered period drama Story of Kunning Palace. Starring Bai Lu and Zhang Ling He, the drama was abruptly pulled from premiere in May the day off and then suddenly released in November now … Continue reading →
I didn’t follow the K-movies this year so I don’t even know if any of the winners were the right ones lol but I still love awards ceremonies for the glitz and glamor. It was the usual level of awards show dressing for the 2023 Blue Dragon Awards which fetes the best in film with plenty of A-list and rising … Continue reading →
Who knew throwing some guyliner and fur on Zeng Shun Xi (Joseph Zeng) would make him for the first time seem quite an attractive leading man to me haha. The first stills are out for wuxia X-drama Seven Nights of Snow and it’s perfect timing to be released now in the winter. Starring Li Qin and Zeng Shun Xi, these … Continue reading →
Say what you will about rating websites be it Rotten Tomatoes for movies in the US or Douban in China for dramas but it serves at least a central aggregate of consumer feedback. I find the public ratings more or less accurate, sometimes it’s higher or lower than my personal opinion but never wildly inaccurate. It’s also rare to not … Continue reading →
Method acting is one of the regularly lauded performance commitments for actors and actresses and it’s understandable when one goes to a physical transformation for a role. But I don’t understand why Park Min Young went full cancer patient in her upcoming tvN K-drama Marry My Husband, because it’s just not needed. This is not an Oscar prestige film like … Continue reading →
I heard Netflix is raising prices again and goodness the streaming platform is really testing the break point before a good majority cancels. It’s still in the far horizon but as long as the company invests in exclusive dramas and movies there will always be a fresh reason to watch, case in point the holiday season release of period thriller … Continue reading →
So the C-drama that Xiao Zhan is signed up for with the Chinese title translated tentatively as Tibetan Sea Opera and the English title Legend of the Hidden Sea has a new female lead name attached. Originally the female leads were rumored to be either Li Qin or Li Yi Tong, but now it looks like the role will go … Continue reading →
Goodness is this one of those castings where I think one half is just so woefully miscast I don’t even know how the end result could possibly come out. Upcoming xianxia C-drama Shui Long Yin (Water Dragon Chant) has cast the leads with Luo Yun Xi and Lin Yun (Jelly Lin), with the former capable of overacting but no one … Continue reading →
Call this one gum gate, haha. And I just find it gross more than problematic but C-netizens don’t see it that way. C-actress Zhao Lu Si was spotted in BTS footage during her photo shoot this week with Wang An Yu as the pair ramp up promotions for their upcoming xianxia drama The Last Immortal. Normally the BTS stuff is … Continue reading →
