I know paying taxes is painful, and it’s tempting to under report here and there, and honestly if it was just a little it will probably just slip through the cracks. But the tax evasion cases with celebrities (Chinese and Korean for the bigger part) are in the millions or tens of millions and that’s just wild people think they … Continue reading →
The foray of Disney+ into K-drama land has been wonky off the bat. It picked controversial Snowdrop to stream and got some early blowback. And recently it premiered sci-fi thriller Grid but didn’t go any meaningful promotions and the drama seems to have just been forgotten. I hope it doesn’t stash Soundtrack #1 away to grow musty because a short … Continue reading →
K-actress Lee Bo Young has cultivated an enviable acting career in the last decade, arguable more popular, successful, and beloved than her first decade. Between the ratings hits, cult faves, and critically lauded performances, she just radiates this capable and deliberate vibe, like she knows exactly what she wants to act in and goes and make it happen. It’s girl … Continue reading →
I mention The Red Sleeve Cuff specifically because I think it’s a shoo-in to win but seeing what industry insiders pick as the best K-dramas of 2021 definitely validates the critical acclaim these three dramas received during their runs. In addition to Red Sleeve, Taxi Drive (Deluxe Taxi) and Youth of May round out the three dramas nominated for Best … Continue reading →
I remember K-actress Lee Sung Kyung working nonstop with at least a drama a year after her debut and breakout right off the bat in It’s Okay, It’s Love. She did a few memorable stints in second lead territory before her first lead in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo in 2016. After that it was lead land permanently but she … Continue reading →
This weekend saw the conclusion of the short but to the heart SBS 12-episode criminal investigative drama Through the Darkness (Those Who Read Hearts of Evil). This was one of the dramas that got its airing bisected by the Winter Olympics so the first half and second half had a month gap. Overall the average ratings was 7.2% and the … Continue reading →
Sometimes timing is everything and I would rather that his time came now than wonder why it isn’t earlier. K-ent is calling Nam Joo Hyuk‘s turn in Twenty Five, Twenty One a career defining one, in that despite his year in the industry with many male leads under his belt this is the role and performance that will afford him … Continue reading →
This Saturday starts the second half of the story and episode airings for tvN drama Twenty Five, Twenty One and jTBC drama Forecasting Love and Weather. Its the time to see if the drama truly has legs as the back half of the marathon and of any good story is always harder. Twenty Five, Twenty One remarkably remained about 10% … Continue reading →
On the scale of yay to oh hells no this is definitely on the terrible idea end of that spectrum. A top C-ent producer has purchased the official remake rights to MBC hit drama My Name is Kim Sam Soon, which actually got 50% ratings on its final episode which tells you that this one was among the biggest hits … Continue reading →
Well this is like Ojakkyo Brothers but with one less brother, that hit drama had four marriage age brothers and this one just has three. KBS is winding down the airing of hit weekend long drama Young Lady and Gentlemen and the next on deck is It’s Beautiful Now. It follows a family with three sons played by Yoon Shi … Continue reading →
I think Lee Jun Ki really stretched himself in his last drama Flower of Evil, as the maybe serial killer and also maybe loving husband, and perhaps both. It was subtle, nuanced, and exceedingly nerve tingling. This isn’t necessarily a step back for his next drama Again My Life but seeing the posters and stills is reminds me of his … Continue reading →
I feel like Jung Ho Yeon could be over saturated by now but I don’t think that’s the case. Her overseas explosion of popularity appears greater than the domestic increased awareness so she definitely has much more room to conquer. Plus a natural acting aura helps when she’ll need to pick new acting projects to prove that her debut stardom … Continue reading →
Ooooh, I really dig this whole look on K-actor Lee Min Ho. Top to bottom it’s my jam even though individually it’s all no bueno if you asked me to style a guy. He’s still rocking the long slightly curly messy hair with a middle part which is both a different hairstyle than the one he’s been wearing for years … Continue reading →
