I feel like the promo circuit for upcoming K-movie Josee, a remake of the Japanese movie of the same name, is to make up somewhat for the lack of OTP promos in tvN drama Start-Up. I see movie leads Nam Joo Hyuk and Han Ji Min everywhere and I love it! I just wish the same happened for Nam Joo … Continue reading →
Streaming platform Netflix issued a press release (What Asia Watched) last week sharing internal data about it’s streaming numbers with the public. Focusing on the Asia region and on K-dramas, the three K-dramas with the most viewers in 2020 were It’s Okay to Not be Okay, The King: Eternal Monarch, and Kingdom. Totally in line with that got a lot … Continue reading →
Impressive and I’m so happy for the cast and crew! Newly arriving tvN Sat-Sun fantasy sageuk drama Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) premiered today to 8.030% AGB nationwide ratings, a huge ratings jump from predecessor youth business romance drama Start-Up. It’s actually the second highest weekend drama premiere on tvN, the record still held by Mr. Sunshine at 8.852%. Some other … Continue reading →
If this drama ends up being sucky at least it won’t be for lack of talented supporting actors and actresses to join leads Hyeri and Jang Ki Yong. The upcoming drama My Roommate is a Gumiho (Falling Cohabitation) has added to the cast Bae In Hyuk and reuniting Start-Up costars Kang Han Na and Kim Do Won. I’m way excited … Continue reading →
I don’t think we’ll see a recast but weirder things have happened. SBS drama Delayed Justice has been so fraught with travails it’s almost a test to see what else bad can happen. Male lead Kwon Sang Woo injured his foot last month and needed surgery, and the drama had to write about his availability. Then last week Kwon Sang … Continue reading →
K-ent had an article this week about the “drought” in the drama industry with lead actors in the 20s and 30s age range. All that are considered experienced with successful hit dramas under their belts are all unavailable for various reasons: already signed to an upcoming drama/movie or currently in military service. The industry is hoping the return of Lee … Continue reading →
Man, talk about yet another life taken by COVID-19 that adds to the count of people who should have never passed yet. Korean director Kim Ki Duk has passed away at the age of 59 in a hospital in Latvia. He was in the country since late November to buy a beach home and spend more time there. He apparently … Continue reading →
It feels like tvN thriller melodrama Flower of Evil was eons ago, goes to the show the speed at which new entertainment replaces the old in the mind. The drama was emotionally intense so the production must have been equally hard hitting but thankfully the result was as good as hoped and the praise was deserving all around. I felt … Continue reading →
Okay this is such a cute and wonderful tidbit to share. Screenwriter Kim Eun Hee (Signal, 3 Days, Sign) was recently on a variety show interview and discussed a wide range of topics ranging her from dramas next year Kingdom 3 and Mount Jiri, but this info is on her personal life. She’s apparently very good friends with fellow hit … Continue reading →
There’s a sneak peek at upcoming SBS sageuk drama Hong Chun Gi and I’m conflicted. On one hand it looks great, leads Kim Yoo Jung and Ahn Hyo Seob are gorgeous in character and look good visually together. But it looks so much like Kim Yoo Jung’s last sageuk Moonlight Drawn By Clouds, Ahn Hyo Seob even looks so much … Continue reading →
I’m not a fan of chunky sweaters (adds heft), turtle necks (hot neck!), or soft wooly angora material (itchy), but goodness I just want to seem as warm and cozy as K-actress Song Hye Kyo looks in her latest pictorial. The oatmeal colored sweater she’s wearing seems to envelope like an embrace and don’t we all need a hug these … Continue reading →
You put two model trained talented stars even in the middle of a mountain and they know how to Vogue still. The cast and crew of 2021 K-drama Mount Jiri (Jiri Mountain) has been filming for the last two months, though production has shut down for two weeks to stem COVID-19 concerns, so it’s great timing that a variety show … Continue reading →
The year end is also a good time to look back and see which stars really connected with consumers, as in South Korea actors, singers, sports stars, and even variety show hosts all make even better living endorsing products. The 2020 Year End Poll conducted by the Advertising Association found that perennial CF darling IU remains the favorite among the … Continue reading →
