The fail that is SBS fantasy romance drama The King: Eternal Monarch will have many iterations of dissection and analysis. But I feel it won’t have any impact on leading lady Kim Go Eun‘s acting career, this is one mis-casting that I feel just isn’t her fault. She was not right for Jung Tae Eul, much better as Luna, but … Continue reading →
K-actress Jeon Ji Hyun in her over twenty years in the industry has justified all her high rates for movies, dramas, and CFs. She’s a natural at “selling” something be it a character or an item. I never tire of seeing a new pictorial from her which is usually in conjunction with a brand she is repping but it’s never … Continue reading →
It was a bit like Plinko for the first few episodes of The King: Eternal Monarch. I wasn’t sure where the ball would drop as it careened through the messy narrative and directing in terms of who got the best character and gave the best performance. Most fun character for sure is going to Woo Do Hwan, his dual role … Continue reading →
Well, the first parallel worlds drama of 2020 has been mostly a dud, though it could revive and redeem itself with the final few episodes. It’s time to look ahead and the second such themed drama arrives in July on cable network OCN with Train. It was originally going to star Kim Jae Wook but he passed so the leading … Continue reading →
I’ve been quarantine baking for two months and finally decided to tackle the Mount Everest that is sourdough bread, complete with raising my own starter (lil’ EJ is his name). My first loaf was an unmitigated disaster, looked good with the crust but was a hard solid glop inside. It didn’t rise *cries*. So much experience goes into the crown … Continue reading →
It feels like a new normal is slowly settling in with South Korea entertainment, press conferences are back with plenty of dolled up celebrities but off screen the face masks are ubiquitous. Park Shin Hye and Yoo Ah In attended the movie press conference for their upcoming zombie flick #Alive and both looked really happy and healthy and excited for … Continue reading →
It’s welcome back to singer-actor Jang Geun Seok, what a nice way to head into the weekend for him. Jang Geun Seok was discharged Friday afternoon from completing his mandatory military service in the public service sector hence he’s not wearing his army fatigues. He looks healthy and I can totally see him smiling because he has an eye smile … Continue reading →
My perseverance with The King: Eternal Monarch seems to be paying off, though I’ve said this twice before and been sadly let down. Maybe the third time’s the charm. Due to the preemption this Friday on episode 13 of TKEM, a long preview was released and it looks good. Legit good in all way connective ways I’ve asked from this … Continue reading →
This is a wonderful surprise and the production is intentionally keeping it mysterious. K-actor Kim Ji Hoon will be joining the cast of tvN thriller drama Flower of Evil starring Lee Jun Ki and Moon Chae Won. His role is described as integral and important to the drama and Kim Ji Hoon himself explained that it’s unlike any role he’s … Continue reading →
There a lot of smiles and outsized personalities to go around in upcoming SBS Fri-Sat drama Backstreet Rookie, adapted from the webtoon Convenience Store Morning Star. The premiere will likely be pushed back a week now that SBS preempted an episode of its predecessor drama The King: Eternal Monarch so we’ll see the drama in mid-June. Leads Ji Chang Wook … Continue reading →
Okay, this is NOT what I was expecting especially since the first poster for tvN drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay had butterflies all over it. The first substantive preview is out and things are looking mighty sad and intense in It’s Okay land, complete with Kim Soo Hyun running away, more running away, talking about running away, and … Continue reading →
I wonder if The King: Eternal Monarch would have been better done Memento style, we see the ending and rewind backwards to learn alongside the leads what is happening. Maybe Kim Eun Sook intended it that way with the opening scene with blood splattered bad uncle Lee Rim being interrogated by Tae Eul and Shin Jae in a police interrogation … Continue reading →
Hmmmm, this was not what I was expecting at all for the upcoming tvN drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay but I’m not complaining. Just curious why Seo Ye Ji‘s character looks like a fashionista even though she’s a children’s book writer or am I stereotyping lol. She gives off IU from Hotel Del Luna vibes and if that … Continue reading →
