That this drama can get high ratings (for cable) despite the very problematic North Korean setting (during the current political climate) is a testament to the star power of Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin as well as the public’s appetite for a traditional Hallyu romance. The second episode of Crash Landing on You rose in ratings to 6.845%, and … Continue reading →
I still can’t grasp the untimely death of Taiwanese-Canadian actor and model Godfrey Gao. Unlike the recent spate of suicides in K-ent, this one was entirely preventable as Godfrey collapsed of a massive heart attack on the set of a C-variety show that was all about a grueling competitive chase through the city at night. I’ll let the netizens and … Continue reading →
And they’re off the races, or at least racing towards zero whatever that means in the drama. Script reading pictures have been released for early January 2020 MBC drama The Game: Towards Zero, starring Taecyeon, Lee Yeon Hee, and Im Joo Hwan. Seeing the two leads together made me realize that I actually forgot that Taec and Lee Yeon Hee … Continue reading →
So the verdict is in and episode 1 of Crash Landing on You got a very respectful start with 6.074% AGB ratings nationwide. Less certain is whether the ratings will hold, or even better yet increase, because the drama is how shall I put it…..likely to be polarizing to modern viewers. I guarantee this drama will be straight up love … Continue reading →
Apologies for the delayed post on jTBC drama Chocolate, a combination of my own impressions not yet fully formed until this week’s episodes 5-6 and also due to work travel. This is simply one sloooooooooow burn drama, and takes a long long time to really get going. Imagine a vintage vehicle that doesn’t show it’s incredible depth until you’ve left … Continue reading →
I really a bipolar reaction to recently concluded successful in ratings KBS drama When the Camellia Blooms. Maybe a rewatch in one go will help me fully love it like many viewers seemed to with the drama finally bringing back higher ratings to the prime time slot. Leading lady Gong Hyo Jin was one-half the recipe, male lead Kang Ha … Continue reading →
She was the “titular” female lead of the manhwa Secret that was the story within a story of MBC drama Extraordinary You, and it was a fun role if you ask me. Rookie actress Lee Na Eun, better known in her idol incarnation as member of girl group April, got to play what would have been the female lead in … Continue reading →
Both women are beautiful as is so this one comes down to styling the entire package. Shin Mina attended a Roger Vivier event in Seoul wearing the brand’s new dress a dramatic mustard yellow with floral black patterns billowing dress. The same week actress Oh Na Ra donned the same dress for the press conference of new KBS drama 9.9 … Continue reading →
Han Suk Kyu doesn’t look either either a doctor or a teacher in his first stills for SBS medical drama Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim 2, more like he’s auditioning for the fisherman killer in I Know What You Did Last Summer lol. It was a fairly routine type of blah year for the network in 2019 in terms of ratings … Continue reading →
Leave it to K-drama casting agents to still manage to surprise me. There’s a one-two news break with 2020 K-drama Record of Youth – originally confirmed male lead Jang Ki Young has declined due to scheduling conflicts and the production is courting Park Bo Gum and he’s seriously considering it. That makes sense as Park So Dam as been this … Continue reading →
This weekend is the landing of Crash Landing on You, and we’ll see then if it reaches an audience thirsty for gorgeously filmed romance or lands like a thud for the farfetched set up. I think it’s the former, so many sillier drama pairings (alien and actress, con artist and mermaid) have succeeded because K-drama romance peddles extreme fantasy. Hyun … Continue reading →
Idol turned actor L (Kim Myung Soo) seems to be in a groove playing otherworldly characters that a female lead falls in love with. His last drama was Angel’s Last Mission: Love where he was an angel and now his next drama Welcome he’ll be playing with an ability to transform into a human. His female lead will be rising … Continue reading →
Tis the holiday season and time to be merry but also more than ever to give back in any way. For the high earning celebrities many are continuing their charitable efforts and honestly this is a zero competition field. There is no such thing as anyone’s favorite donating more and winning some non-existent race. K-actress Suzy has donated every year … Continue reading →
