The premise of MBC drama People With Flaws is solely predicated on the acting and chemistry. It’s basically opposites attract and insert profession/situation/coincidence to bring them together. I don’t know how the mixture of Ahn Jae Hyun and Oh Yeon Seo will turn out but he underacts and she overacts so maybe together they will be just right. I’m more … Continue reading →
The scheduled press conference for K-drama Catch the Ghost was postponed due to ill tidings in K-ent and a sad passing so the drama held its press conference today hours before the drama premiered as the new Mon-Tues tvN offering. Starring Moon Geun Young and Kim Sun Ho as partner subway cops investigating a larger conspiracy but solving daily transit … Continue reading →
Congrats to the dark horse hit drama of 2019, small cable network MBN‘s unexpected surprise Graceful Family ended it’s record setting run last week with 8.5% ratings. If you want to know how impressive that is the highest rating for cable network tvN‘s highly promoted and most expensive drama ever produced Arthdal Chronicles was 7.705% and tvN’s real hit drama … Continue reading →
The K-movie adaptation of hit feminist novel 1982 Born Kim Ji Young opens next week in Korea and all eyes are on whether mainstream audiences will embrace it and whether the fringe right will successfully stifle a story that highlights all the minor and micro injustices Korean women have faced culturally. The movie is 100% about Jung Yumi‘s Kim Ji … Continue reading →
There is a reason that summer Hollywood movies are called popcorn flicks, it’s brainless fun and the emphasis is on FUN. tvN action drama Vagabond has been no fun so far, earlier on it had to be serious and sad because an entire plane full of passengers including a bunch of kids died because of a greedy government and corporate … Continue reading →
The last major entertainment activity that Sulli participated in prior to her untimely passing was doing a cameo for her very good friend IU‘s summer supernatural drama Hotel Del Luna. That will remain Sulli’s departing work and I’m so happy she got to do it in support of IU and also spend time together. IU’s name hasn’t been publicly in … Continue reading →
There feels like a lot of drama casting news into 2020 now with the remainder of the 2019 K-dramas either cast or filming already. K-actor Yoo Seung Ho will be making his drama comeback in early 2020 with tvN‘s drama adaptation of popular webtoon Memorist. He seems to have an affinity with playing characters that have good memory, let’s not … Continue reading →
This news feels particularly timely this week and a good place to set future standards. The Korean court has handed down a guilty sentence to a 24-year old K-netizen who was found to have spread unfounded and malicious rumors about Lee Seo Jin and Sunny of SNSD. The person commented on a website of over 1 million users that Lee … Continue reading →
Goodness is this a surprise drama land return. K-actress Kim Tae Hee is reportedly in talks as the female lead of 2020 tvN drama Goodbye Mom, billed as a tearful yet heartwarming family ghost drama. She just had her second child, another daughter with husband Rain so I legit was not expecting her to resume acting anytime soon. At least … Continue reading →
I’ve been disappointed by Korean actress red carpet dressing for years now and seeing the parade at this week’s Seoul Fashion Show for Spring/Summer 2020 confirms that the K-style is just not for me. They go safe with white/black uninspired styles at awards shows and for fashion shows it’s a melange of too loud and frothy styles swinging hard the … Continue reading →
I’m really glad the family and/or SM decided to make Sulli‘s funeral and altar private. It was so hard to watch last year all the SM artists crying their eyes out at Jonghyun‘s funeral. Sulli passed away at the start of the week and this Thursday October 17th she was laid to rest. She was just 25 years old but … Continue reading →
Okay, the drama title sounds stupid upon first impression but goodness who cares if this really ends up being Kim Soo Hyun‘s drama return after military service and 5 years after Producers. K-ent is reporting that Kim Soo Hyun has been offered the male lead and is seriously considering the offer for tvN drama I’m a Psycho But It’s Okay. … Continue reading →
It’s never too long when it comes to something perfect. So a perfect pairing feels just as magical seeing it nearly 5 years later, by that I mean C-stars Hu Ge and Liu Tao together again. They starred in the critically acclaimed hit C-drama Nirvana in Fire, still the most perfect drama I’ve ever watched from every angle directing, writing, … Continue reading →
