First impressions mean a lot and I loved the concept poster for the long awaited C-drama adaptation of fantasy period romance novel Once Promised (Ceng Shu Nuo) by writer Tong Hua most famous for having penned Bu Bu Jing Xin. The drama is being called A Lifetime Love (Chinese title Ancient Love Song – Shang Gu Qing Ge) and all the … Continue reading →
The debut was less than shiny for new MBC Wed-Thurs arrival Radiant Office, and in fact was even lower than its low rated predecessor Missing 9. Radiant Office premiered this Wednesday with an abysmally low 3.8% AGB nationwide ratings, and Missing 9 did hit those same low numbers but went out the week before with 4.2% in the final episode. … Continue reading →
Congrats are in order for TW-actress Ady An as she dropped a happy bombshell SNS post on the world Wednesday morning announcing that she was married. The groom is her rumored boyfriend for the last two years, mult-millionaire Hong Kong businessman Chen Rong Lian, so Ady is following in the footsteps of previous actresses in marrying into rich business tycoon … Continue reading →
It’s hard for me to muster any enthusiasm to hit up a wax museum, in the same way I don’t like going to zoos or aquariums. It’s not the natural habitat of the denizens, though wax replicas of famous stars are safer grouped together than scaring people out in the wild. Park Hae Jin got his own wax figure unveiled … Continue reading →
Another award is in the bag for Song Joong Ki, just in time to celebrate the anniversary of his hit drama Descendants of the Sun which dominated the March airwaves last year in 2016. Song Joong Ki is the recipient of the 2017 Korean PD Award‘s Best Actor nod, an award that went to Ji Sung in 2016 for Kill … Continue reading →
This is too adorable and awkward not to share, and also to congratulate a young man for quite an achievement. Actor Ji Soo, currently starring as the second male lead in hit cable drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, is holding his first solo fan meeting on April 1st in Seoul. Plenty of K-actors and actresses hold fan meetings but … Continue reading →
I can’t even fathom how much time has flown that C-actress Liu Shi Shi is celebrating her 30th birthday. I remember first laying eyes on her in 2005 when she was filming the 2006 adaptation of Legend of the Condor Heroes with Hu Ge, Ariel Lin, and Yuan Hong. Every one of the leads has gone on to stardom but … Continue reading →
It’s classic noir for the visual home run in the recently released official posters for KBS sleuthing drama Mystery Queen. I would love to see these in black-and-white as well but the saturated tones of gold and red accents with backdrops of crime solving poses sells this drama marvelously. I’m interested now if I wasn’t already with this mystery loving housewife … Continue reading →
It’s hard to cover award winning director Hong Sang Soo and his new movie On the Beach Alone at Night starring award winning actress Kim Min Hee without being back splashed with their messy personal life romance. After holding hands all over the Berlin Film Festival last month where Kim Min Hee took home the coveted Best Actress Award, the … Continue reading →
The reason I’m covering the Chinese beef with South Korea over THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system) is twofold – the escalation is making immediate impact on Hallyu and if it keeps going will likely have long term ramifications on the industry that could change how and what Hallyu products are produced. China’s fury over South Korea installing THAAD … Continue reading →
I’m totally enchanted by Lee Jun Ki‘s segment on variety show My Ear’s Candy 2, as a fan this is a great way to get to know him better. The show pairs him with an unknown “ear candy” – a person he converses with over the phone about whatever is going on – and his segment has the added eye … Continue reading →
Fans of Lee Dong Wook attending his Seoul fan meeting this past weekend got a special treat with the presence of special guest Gong Yoo to increase the star wattage at the event. Goblin finished airing over a month ago but the lingering buzz is strong since the current television drama offerings hasn’t generated a successor with such high ratings … Continue reading →
It will be office to office next Wed-Thurs as MBC trades low rated castaway mystery thriller Missing 9 for gung ho workplace success drama Radiant Office. There’s already a workplace drama dominating that time slot in Chief Kim on KBS so Radiant Office can either get blocked by lack of interest in the same genre or buoyed by overflowing interest in … Continue reading →
