It takes a huge luxury brand like Louis Vuitton to bring the bold, bright, and beautiful all together in Taipei right after a giant typhoon just passed. K-drama fans in Taiwan must’ve been thrilled to see actor So Ji Sub attending the opening of the LV Taipei Flagship Store at Breeze in the Xinyi District, and also present for K-pop … Continue reading →
It’s hard to keep watching my beloved Hyun Bin pick movie after movie, but maybe my patience will be rewarded next year after he finishes this one and perhaps considers a K-drama then. Binnie and Yoo Ji Tae, the two male leads of upcoming Korean thriller movie Ggoon (Swindler) sat down for script reading along with a sprawling cast of familiar … Continue reading →
I’m soooooo loving Ji Chang Wook in The K2, a role and drama that feels like a perfect crescendo from  his Healer breakout role. The first two episodes were a tad too action-packed and a dash too little character building, but that’s the style of PD Kwak Jung Hwan, and also an issue he tackles aptly as the drama progresses … Continue reading →
It’s a big step forward for Taiwanese singer-actress Gui Gui (real name Wu Ying Jie) as she made her debut stage in Korea after signing with mega entertainment behemoth CJ E&M earlier this year. Gui Gui has been cloistered in Korea for months of intense training in language, singing, and dancing, and recently emerged for her debut sporting a short … Continue reading →
Overseas filming looks to become part and parcel with the trend of pre-producing K-dramas, which makes practical sense since there is plenty of time to plan the more technically challenging filming and to ship everyone out. Two upcoming cable network K-dramas just announced an overseas shoot scheduled for the coming months. tvN is sending the leads of Goblin to Canada … Continue reading →
It’s safe to bet I’ll be spending time with Tomorrow With You, maybe not tomorrow but definitely in the future. Too bad I can’t time-travel like the male lead in the drama, then I could jump forward and watch the first episode now. Sadly we’ll all about to wait until 2017 to see this rom-com which is slated to follow … Continue reading →
I thought pairing up Kim Woo Bin and Kim So Hyun was weird enough for last year’s Domino’s pizza ad campaign in South Korea, and now here comes yet another strange set up of Samsonite Red bags using Kim Woo Bin with Kim Yoo Jung to shill luggage. Kim Woo Bin looked like a predator around Kim So Hyun, and … Continue reading →
If you love vibrant color flowers and striking fashion then this photo spread will tickle your fancy. K-actress Ha Ji Won is on the cover and pages of the October 2016 issue of Marie Claire Hong Kong showing off her lush ladylike features and enviable figure. Behind her is a wall-sized bouquet of pink and purple blooms that beautifully accentuate … Continue reading →
Now this is a thoroughly unexpected but potentially very cute onscreen coupling. Park Bo Young and Park Hyung Sik have just confirmed their lead roles in upcoming cable network jTBC drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. This is great news for Park Bo Young fans as she eschewed dramas for so many years and came back last year with the … Continue reading →
It’s been a hard last week for C-actress Zhao Li Ying, one of deceased C-actor Kimi Qiao‘s close entertainment industry friends. Not only did she have to grieve the loss of her good friend, she also got attacked online by netizens upset that she wasn’t posting grieving tributes or updates on weibo in the days after Kimi’s suicide. Zhao Li … Continue reading →
Last week’s passing of Chinese singer-actor Kimi Qiao (Qiao Ren Liang) at the age of 28 years old from depression-induced suicide has rocked the entertainment industry but no one is more affected than his parents. He was an only child not to mention by all accounts a dutiful, considerate, and loving son, the type to call his mom that he was … Continue reading →
The fallout from the Chinese spat with South Korea over THAAD is clearly continuing even after news coverage has died down since the heated summer months. The next casualty is the highly publicized fully pre-produced sageuk drama Saimdang: Light’s Dairy, which was supposed to be famed K-actress Lee Young Ae‘s acting return in eleven years and drama return even longer … Continue reading →
When I view recently ended MBC drama W: Two Worlds from the lens of the entire drama, it strikes me as even more impressive with it’s conceptual reach because the drama really hooks all three different taste audiences with Korea, China, and Japan. The fresh story line keeps the domestic audiences engaged, the sleek upscale production makes Chinese audiences entertained, … Continue reading →
