The drama train is prepping to leave the station next week, with a Woman with a Suitcase on it headed for narrative depths unknown. As a lawyer I can be nitpickier with legal dramas but there have been plenty I’ve loved, just none in recent years as the tendency towards ham-fisted morality plays trump procedural accuracy. I love the Woman … Continue reading →
It’s pretty amazing how mainstream and widespread K-dramas have become in the nearly two decades since it started proliferating beyond the domestic borders of South Korea. Last year the Greek newspapers covered the overseas filming of Descendants of the Sun when the production chose the country as a stand-in for the fictional war torn Urk, and now the Spanish newspaper … Continue reading →
It’s a downer weekend for entertainment obsessed netizen misbehavior, from Chinese fans cruelly chastising stars for not properly public mourning the death of another star over to Korea where someone reportedly hacked into the private instagram account of Big Bang member G-Dragon (Kwon Ji Young). GD’s set to private instagram account contents were splashed on the internet containing pictures of … Continue reading →
Saying goodbye to a star gone too early feels like public mourning where the good and the bad get tossed around willy nilly. I want to focus on the good and the much too soon passing of Chinese actor-singer Kimi Qiao (Qiao Ren Liang) leaves the industry bereft and in shock, not to mention the family and friends who loved … Continue reading →
It’s been a relatively quiet year with military enlistments, other than Lee Seung Gi getting shipped off I haven’t been all that on top of the comings and goings. That’s why it was a surprise to hear that actor-singer Jaejoong is getting discharged in three months on December 30th. His agency released the confirmation this week and it was pretty … Continue reading →
The top summer K-drama CF beauties ranking is out, courtesy of a poll done of the top 36 beauty and skin care manufacturers in South Korea. This will be great news to Korean fans of actress Yoon Eun Hye who have been waiting for her to resume K-ent activities for the past three years. Ever since Marry Him if You Dare aired in late 2013, Yoon Eun Hye hasn’t done a single Korean movie or drama, not counting her cameo role in Ha Ji Won and … Continue reading →
I’ve been lagging on Three Meals a Day: Gochang Edition despite loving the new season. Now Na PD is doubling my make up quota by bringing back a new season of regular Three Meals a Day with perennial gruff softie Lee Seo Jin by giving him two adorable dongsaengs to boss around who are my total biases. Eric (Moon Jung … Continue reading →
I prefer not to follow up bad news posts, especially not back-to-back, but the pain from hearing that Chinese actor-singer Kimi Qiao (Qiao Ren Liang) passed away yesterday still reverberates and there is too much innuendo out there to let sit. Kimi’s agency released an official statement today confirming Kimi’s death and revealing the cause to be suicide. Kimi had … Continue reading →
I don’t even know how to write this, such shock beyond shock emanating from all corners of Chinese entertainment spheres right now. First off: good night and good life, sweet boy, I hope you are in a better place. It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news that Chinese actor-singer-model Kimi Qiao (Qiao Ren Liang) was found deceased … Continue reading →
With Uncontrollably Fond wrapped up last week, leading lady Suzy will likely go back to her expansive CF career such as modeling for jewelry brand Didier Dubot like her, or girl group Miss A activities for the near future as she doesn’t do dramas on a regular basis. Maybe her next role will be a movie, but I hope she … Continue reading →
Seeing HK singer-actress Sammi Cheng in the news this week looking at 44 years old not a day older than twenty years ago when I remember her career starting heyday years, it’s crazy how times flies but certain people seem to stay the same. Sammi is in Taiwan this week to release her first Mandarin single in 6 years called “I … Continue reading →
It’s a job well done for Lee Jong Seok as he finished his K-drama W: Two Worlds and celebrated his 27th birthday on the same day. He actually turned 28 in Korean age on his birthday of September 14th, which also makes it a year closer to when he’ll need to check in for military service. There are still the … Continue reading →
