After Choi Ji Woo hit a sweet spot with cable in tvN drama Second Time Twenty Again, two more forty and over are heading to cable and also doing the pre-produced format. Kim Hee Sun and Kim Sun Ah are in talks for jTBC drama Classy Her (or Her with Class), making it not just female lead centric but also … Continue reading →
SBS premiered two new prime time dramas this week to opposite spectrum results, and the one win greatly trumps the one loss if you ask me. Doctors with Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won burst out of the gate to fantastic ratings, garnering 12.9% AGB nationwide on Monday and the second episode rose 1.3% to bring in 14.2% AGB nationwide … Continue reading →
Alternate or parallel universes aren’t too impossible a barrier to leap over for destined lovebirds Han Hyo Joo and Lee Jong Seok in the upcoming MBC drama W: Two Worlds, which isn’t arriving for another month on July 20th but with so much promotion it feels imminent. The production team for this drama managed to bring time-traveling lovers in Queen In Hyun’s … Continue reading →
When I make visual associations between dramas it’s almost never a qualitative discussion and all due to a scene, image, or set up that jars my memory so vividly. Case in point the latest set of drama stills from Uncontrollably Fond showing Kim Woo Bin and Suzy in high school uniforms, with her holding a giant stuffed animal and him … Continue reading →
The scandal-filled days of summer isn’t slowing down one whit in K-ent. Following on the heels of Park Yoochun‘s series of rape allegations, less legally damaging but salacious enough is news that actress Kim Min Hee is reportedly having an extra-marital affair with acclaimed movie director Hong Sang Soo. The 57 year old director and 35 year old actress met … Continue reading →
There’s finally a full set of of main lead character posters for KBS Wed-Thurs drama Uncontrollably Fond, finally bringing the two second leads to the forefront along with all the attention being lavished on the main leads. The Park Yoochun allegations of rape and ensuing police investigation continues to heat up and with makes it harder and harder to believe that his entertainment career will ever recover. As of today there are now four accusers who have filed a sexual assault charge against Yoochun and the police are investigating all of it. The accusers have all given … Continue reading →
I think Let’s Fight Ghost has a fighting chance of being watchable, if not substantively gripping it might be mildly diverting as a summer offering. Seeing high school girl ghost Kim So Hyun with college student ghost hunter Taecyeon isn’t as jarring or disconcerting as I worried about. They seem to have a fun bright chemistry in the stills, the … Continue reading →
Sharpshooters aren’t my thing but Lee Jong Seok certainly is. His character in upcoming MBC drama W: Two Worlds has multiple talents and achievements and one of it is being an Olympic gold medal winning target shooter. The drama just released stills of Lee Jong Seok competing at the Olympics with a long barrel pistol and one eye covered. I … Continue reading →
Second time can be a charm and I certainly hope so for the upcoming C-movie adaptation of popular Chinese romance novel Summer’s Desire (The Bubble of Summer). The first go-around was the miscast and overwrought Chinese-Taiwanese drama of the same name with Peter Ho as Ou Chen, Barbie Hsu (Da S) as Xiao Mo, and Huang Xiaoming as Luo Xi. … Continue reading →
I’m not sure good hair is supposed to be my first takeaway from the promos for upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Wanted, but for first impressions it’s certainly not a negative one other than it’s likely not what this thriller drama is trying to convey. While the other SBS drama premiering this week, namely Doctors on Mon-Tues, is garnering more buzz, … Continue reading →
It’s double the love this weekend for two big name Chinese entertainment star couples out and about. First came TW-actor and singer Nicky Wu’s Shanghai fan meeting where his famous wife C-actress Liu Shi Shi made a surprise appearance to support her hubby. Nicky blurted out “I thought you were in Beijing!” when Shi Shi appeared onstage and the two shared … Continue reading →
The sold out in minutes Song Joong Ki fan meeting in China turned into the Song-Song affair, but somehow I don’t think his Chinese fans minded much since many may be shipping him with his Descendants of the Sun costar. Song Hye Kyo made a surprise appearance at Song Joong Ki’s June 17th fan meeting in China, way more than … Continue reading →
