It must be a big sigh of relief at KBS studios this morning after highly anticipated variety drama Producer finally premiered Friday night. Good or bad, high or low ratings, at least it’s out there now and the cast and crew did everything possible to create something to showcase for audiences. I liked but didn’t love the first episode, enjoying … Continue reading →
I am positive enamored of sexy in my dramas and movies. But real sexy is real hard to do right, especially nowadays with scantily clad or sexually suggestive tries to masquerade as sexy when the real deal is all about restraint and innuendo. Two upcoming dramas seems to have captured the perfect spirit of sexy, and in a nice twist … Continue reading →
There is a huge and very public fire drill going on at SBS and it’s worrying the heck out of me since it concerns a drama I’m looking forward to. News just broke that PD Jo Soo Won has quit the production of upcoming SBS weekend drama The Time I Loved You, 7000 Days. It’s better known as the K-remake … Continue reading →
This is wholly unsurprising, other than the swift denials of both agencies. According to breaking news by Sports Seoul, another member of the top girl’s group SNSD is off the market, making me wonder if SM Entertainment shouldn’t be considering a name change from Girl’s Generation to Taken Ladies Era or something like that. Cute perky Sunny is reportedly dating singer-actor Seo … Continue reading →
Double yes! I already got good casting news this week with the addition of Im Joo Hwan and Kwak Si Yang to upcoming tvN drama Oh My Ghost. Now comes an extra helping of much anticipated drama land return with news that rising young actor Park Bo Geum is in talks for the male lead of tvN drama Answer Me … Continue reading →
Intense doesn’t even begin to describe this episode 14 of The Girl Who Sees Smells. The drama has actually increased a noticeable bit of ratings this week, reflecting both an uptick in narrative intensity as well as a new competition in town that didn’t hook the audience right off the bat yet. I thought episode 13 was a welcomed improvement … Continue reading →
Well this K-ent dating news certainly takes the “come again?” and “buh?” double layer cake of confusion and surprise. Jumping right over the usual dating reveal, K-media is understandably abuzz over the out-of-the-blue news that actor turned entertainment company president Bae Yong Joon (forever Yonsama to his devoted female fans in Japan) will be marrying actress Park Soo Jin. She’s … Continue reading →
I would be so grateful if EXO fans could enlighten me on Luhan‘s appeal. I know he left the group over half a year ago and isn’t a member anymore, but I am genuinely clueless when it comes to what makes this very young man (who looks even younger) so popular. I ask this because Luhan just made the cover … Continue reading →
YES! I don’t know who to thank for this casting perfection but you have my deepest gratitude. Upcoming tvN drama Oh My Ghost finished casting this week with quite a flourish, rounding out the cast not with big flashy names but with genuine talent that is a pleasure to watch onscreen. That’s the opinion for me at least, but honestly this … Continue reading →
The relief heading into the final stretch of The Girl Who Sees Smells is that it doesn’t get any worse, and there are plenty of dramas with precipitous declines even with only a few episodes left. It’s just hard to wrap things up, and take this from someone who writes daily and still finds it a challenge. The disappointment with … Continue reading →
It’s a staggered May of Wed-Thurs drama premieres, making it hard to predict the outcome since none of the first episodes are going up head-to-head in airing date. MBC is the first out of the gate today with Warm and Cozy, next week is Masked Prosecutor (The Man in the Mask) over on KBS, and SBS rounds out the rear with … Continue reading →
When there is a pants fashion fail in the same week in K-ent, I can only hope it’s a coincidence but worry that it’s heralding a trend. A terrible eyesore of a trend that should have died off in the 80’s and 90’s. Minor celeb Yoo Seung Ok, who is famous for being a sports trainer and flaunting her body … Continue reading →
The screenwriter of The Girl Who Sees Smells also did Rooftop Prince and viewing these two works together confirm one thing. She’s great at rom-com sweet romance and terrible at the dangerous thriller side. Rooftop Prince had the world’s most inept villainous duo, better for glaring like their eyeballs are going to pop out than pulling off intricate schemes. Smelly … Continue reading →
