While all the attention is currently on the still casting MBC drama Kill Me Heal Me, over at KBS the final shakedown of the main leads for vampire medical drama Blood is nothing short of inexplicable. The rumored casting of newbie actor-model Ahn Jae Hyun has been confirmed as the male lead vampire doctor and Ji Jin Hee remains onboard as … Continue reading →
More 2014 year end polling fun for everyone! And this one is more up my alley as a K-drama can often be sunk or saved based on OTP chemistry alone. So who are your favorite and least favorite OTPs (one true pairing) of the year? A good story is a rare treat indeed but let’s not delude ourselves into seeing … Continue reading →
This was a slow and lovely episode of Kyou wa Kaisha Yasumimasu, made all the more memorable by one very unexpected morning nookie session tastefully done. As tasteful as leading lady Hanae has been all along, a beacon of traditional preferences mixed with increasingly modern mores. She is growing by leaps and bounds in each episode and all the situations … Continue reading →
I’m not surprised Pinocchio is doing so well on my year end drama poll despite the fact that it’s only aired 6 episodes. The fact that it’s the currently airing hot drama is a boost during voting not to mention what’s aired has been solidly entertaining. I also think this drama deserves a leap of faith that it’ll stay good, … Continue reading →
Way for MBC to keep up the epic fail when it comes to casting Kill Me Heal Me. First there was the whole Hyun Bin brouhaha, then the drama lines up Lee Seung Gi but gives him a newbie leading lady Lim Ji Yeon who was somnolent-inducing in her first acting role wrapped in limited onscreen charisma, and finally the whole … Continue reading →
I can’t believe the normally sensibly fashionable Yoon Eun Hye gets a “what the heck is she wearing?” type post. I guess we all slip up sometimes and it is unfair to expect celebrities to always dress chic and stylish for whatever the occasion. With that said, the Korean star airport strut is one of those guaranteed moments when a … Continue reading →
I’m can’t get over how cute the official posters are for the upcoming rom-com movie Today’s Love. Starring Lee Seung Gi and Moon Chae Won, the movie chronicles a part of childhood friends who grow up with the girl always using the hapless guy as back up while never seeing him as a potential love interest. Talk about being majorly … Continue reading →
One of the reasons I retain the energy to keep writing about K-dramas is due to the vastly different opinions the same show can bring out in viewers. The debate remains great fun as long as it’s sensible and polite and the discussion process is the fuel to keep stoking my affection for K-dramas. It’s December 1st already so while … Continue reading →
Almost all my posts about Lin Chi Ling are invariably negative since I write about acting projects and that is the very medium where she sucks so bad as to defy description. It’s not even her fault really since she’s a model and not even trying to sell herself as an actress, but her very stratospheric levels of fame as … Continue reading →
Thank the drama gods the weekend of drama casting craziness is over with the news Monday morning out of Korea much more promising. Perpetual second lead Sung Joon will be joining Hyun Bin and Han Ji Min in the split personality K-drama Hyde, Jekyll, and I airing on SBS Wed-Thurs following Pinocchio come next January. It’s a bit early for the … Continue reading →
This year has seen plenty of flame out K-dramas of the Go Big or Go Home variety that unfortunately went down the slink home in shame style. Big name stars with big budgets and/or big expectations such as My Lovely Girl or Tomorrow’s Cantabile or You’re All Surrounded, dramas that never lived up to the hype either in ratings or … Continue reading →
The production of the upcoming fantasy wuxia C-drama The Journey of Flower (花千骨 Hua Qian Gu) didn’t capture my full interest since I didn’t read the popular online C-novel by writer Fresh Guo Guo. I’ve heard good things about it and the drama casting was right up my preferred alley with leads Wallace Huo and Zhao Li Ying being two … Continue reading →
Okay, this has now officially become the worst K-drama casting week in recent memory, stinking up the joint with a series of out-of-the-blue and inexplicable lead casting that has now reached gender balanced levels. On the heels of MBC‘s big budget Kill Me Heal Me casting rookie Lim Ji Yeon (and not a good actress in her rookie outing to … Continue reading →
