The Joo Jin Mo phone hack scandal and the ensuing public reaction is nuanced in many ways and the biggest victim appears to be Jang Dong Gun. Even Joo Jin Mo is a victim because his phone got back and private conversations were made public, and those conversations the public had no right or expectation to see even if Joo … Continue reading →
The 2020 Weibo Awards, celebrating the 2019 year so perhaps the 2019 Weibo Awards would be more apt but it’s held this weekend in January 2020 so imma stick with this year, brought together China’s most popular stars and the platform where they get to curate and expand their popularity. The fashion looks remains my sole interest and it was … Continue reading →
I wonder if setting K-dramas in the boondocks is the new IT thing. Last year in 2019 there was When the Camellia Blooms, currently there is the mopey and super sad Chocolate set in both a desolate countryside and also a podunk island, and coming soon will be I’ll Come Find You When the Weather is Fine. Also set in … Continue reading →
Well this is a surprise pairing and certain to elicit plenty of commentary considering how vocal each fanbase is. Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung are both in talks for a later in 2020 cable network Livetime Channel K-drama called Night Convenience Store. It’s billed as a cute romance with a bad convenience store night clerk with a 4D … Continue reading →
The weather hasn’t turned nice or fine yet but emotionally I’m feeling the urge for the winter thaw now that the holidays are over. Cable network jTBC is filming the upcoming countryside based romance drama I’ll Find You When the Weather is Fine starring Park Min Young and Seo Kang Joon. The drama released the first teaser poster and two … Continue reading →
Okay, I’m in a state of happiness and trepidation with the news of this upcoming new K-drama. Top stars Lee Jun Ki and Moon Chae Won are confirmed for the K-drama The Flower of Evil, reuniting three years after doing the K-adaptation of Criminal Minds together. This time they play a married couple but this is no romance lovey dovey … Continue reading →
This news is two weeks too late to make the Dispatch Jan 1 breaking scoop but there is now a first idol shocker of 2020. Chen of boy idol group EXO announced today via a handwritten note to his fans that he was getting married. The 29 year old singer and songwriter will be marrying his non-celeb girlfriend and the … Continue reading →
Add another to the growing list of married C-stars who divorced first and announced much later. Currently rumors but not yet confirmed also include Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy from 2019, and now actress Tong Li Ya with her actor husband Chen Si Cheng who have been married 6 years and share a song. Reports are circulating that the two have … Continue reading →
Goodness does the success of this drama continue to surprise me but it’s been a pleasure from the first episode on so let’s keep the faith the momentum and quality continues. This Sunday’s episode 8 of Crash Landing on You hit 11.349% ratings, a 2% ratings increase from the last episode which is even more incredible since it’s a cable … Continue reading →
Get this, K-actor, singer, and variety star Lee Seung Gi debuted in 2004, I legit can’t believe he was in the early days Hallyu wave. He recently celebrated his 15th year anniversary in the industry and today he’s turning only 33 years old (35 in Korean age, 1 at birth plus 1 after each new year). He’s soooooo young still … Continue reading →
I totally missed the gradual arrival of child actor Kim Kang Hoon prior to 2019 which was his breakout year. He’s been playing the kid or kid versions of male leads for a few years now but last year he did the younger former child actor himself Yeo Jin Gu in Hotel Del Luna and more importantly was the son … Continue reading →
The two week break between new episodes for hit tvN weekend drama Crash Landing on You didn’t reverse its momentum but perhaps did slow down it’s ratings surge. This Saturday’s episode 7 brought in a new drama high of 9.374% which wasn’t a big jump from episode 6 and there was even another kiss thrown our way like an obvious … Continue reading →
Shin Mina has one of the most distinctive faces among her fellow K-actresses, the wide-set eyes, deep dimples, and round smile. I love her twenty year career trajectory as a rookie getting her start thanks to her pretty face and improving as an actress to the point the early days criticism are long in the rear view mirror. She’s also … Continue reading →
