The awesome that will be the Rurouni Kenshin movie knows no bounds. The final two-minute long movie trailer has just been released and sometime between dinner and now I scraped my jaw off the floor to write up this post. Check out my post on the teaser trailer here from a few months ago, because this tops that and then … Continue reading →
With A Gentleman’s Dignity in the second half of its run, SBS has the follow up weekend drama Five Fingers ready to start filming. The first script reading stills have been released and I’m liking the cast. Starring Joo Ji Hoon, Eunjung, and Ji Chang Wook, it’s a 50 episode birth secret piano playing bonanza that is part of Joo … Continue reading →
Kim Rae Won finished his military service last Summer and dove right into filming the weepy melodrama Thousand Day Promise. Since finishing that crying fest, he’s since wrapping a movie called Superstar which is about a second-rate self-absorbed musical director who joins a talent show as a mentor. He hopes to use that to gain more directing work, but instead … Continue reading →
Having Song Joong Ki play a feral wolf boy is like a stroke of casting brilliance. The boy looks as cuddly as a baby panda, so clearly he’s going to have to use his acting prowess to convince me he’s a dangerous threat to humanity. The first stills are out for the upcoming K-movie Wolf Boy starring Song Joong Ki … Continue reading →
The Summer box office is off to a roaring start in China with the premiere of Painted Skin: The Resurrection setting new box office records this weekend. Reviews are decidedly mixed, from story is flimsy to production is breathtaking. Both are probably true, and is a fine enough reason to tune in. I’ve been dying to check out this movie … Continue reading →
Due to a change in PD, filming has been pushed back from July on the upcoming K-movie Covertly Grandly (also translated as Secretive and Great) starring Kim Soo Hyun as a North Korean undercover operative stationed in rural South Korea. Based on a popular Korean webtoon of the same name, this story apparently toggles both the comedy and intensity with … Continue reading →
Cannes is always a truly international film festival and this year the upcoming Taiwanese period movie Ripples of Desire (Chinese title Hua Yang) premiered its trailer there while two of its four leads showed up to promote the movie. It’s too bad Ivy Chen and Jerry Yan are busy elsewhere because I would have loved to see the entire cast present. … Continue reading →
While the original Painted Skin was just an entertaining albeit flawed fantasy movie, the sequel Painted Skin: The Resurrection seems to be getting way more publicity than I think it deserves. To be honest it looks even sillier, but I’m watching for the great three-way chemistry betweens leads Chen Kun, Zhou Xun, and Zhao Wei. I’d been happier if all … Continue reading →
Putting aside the LOL-tastic press conference for Runway Cop starring Kang Ji Hwan and Sung Yuri, this movie still looks equal parts silly and adorable. I like having the man lose the weight and undergo a makeover for a change, plus once he turns into a male model physique-wise he’s still a dorky cop on the inside. I don’t have … Continue reading →
The level of epic FAIL and sheer absurdity in the press conference by the cast of the upcoming comedy movie Runway Cop (Korean title Detective Cha) almost made me topple off my chair and snort inelegantly. It appears that the production held a mock runway show and had the male leads prance around in character (or pretending to be random … Continue reading →
Kang Ji Hwan and Sung Yuri‘s upcoming fat cop-turned-undercover-male-model comedy movie Detective Cha has gotten its English movie title as Runway Cop. Not Runaway Cop, got it, so don’t go confusing the two. The movie comes out next week and ought to be lots of fun. I love it when a movie knows its got a ridiculous premise but then … Continue reading →
Bwhahaha, you might need to make sure there is nothing remotely spillable within your near vicinity when you watch the just released first teaser for Kang Ji Hwan and Sung Yuri‘s upcoming movie Detective Cha. With a simple and truth-be-told already done before concept of an unattractive cop undergoing a makeover to go undercover (Miss. Congeniality, anyone?), the twist for … Continue reading →
*Speechless shock* Wow, so there is a way to make the hot hot namja Kang Ji Hwan look absolutely abhorrent. Yes, it involves a padded belly, greasy stringy overly long hair, copious amounts of facial hair, and a general obliviousness that makes for good laughs not but much swooning. For the upcoming K-comedy movie Detective Cha, which reunited Kang Ji … Continue reading →
