I never thought I’d see Lee Byung Hun in a sageuk. In his twenty year acting career, he hasn’t done either a drama or movie period role, while most of his peers have at least tried one or two out for size. I think he’s a fantastic actor so it’s not for lack of ability to channel the gravitas necessary … Continue reading →
Can someone tell me when Sato Takeru suddenly turned smoking hot? I mean, a few years ago he was Miura Haruma‘s side kick in Bloody Monday, and now he’s freaking KENSHIN! And not only is he Kenshin, he’s ridiculously perfect as the character based on what I see in the trailer for the live-action movie adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin. The … Continue reading →
The upcoming C-movie Painted Skin: The Resurrection, the sequel to 2008’s hit movie of the same name with Chen Kun, Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei finally released an official trailer as it ramps up for its June release. I’m on pins and needles, because I really enjoyed the first movie for the great chemistry and gorgeous set design, and the … Continue reading →
Sometimes when you want things done right, you have to go to the big leagues. THIS above is how one plays a rawr general who is so awesome he can vanquish an entire army AND still have time to rescue a damsel in distress. Chen Kun, my good hot hot hot man, I bows to you. Seeing this, how could … Continue reading →
Looking good, Hua Yang! The upcoming Summer period Taiwan movie Hua Yang by acclaimed director Chou Mei Ling has just wrapped filming and the first batch of official stills have been released. Starring Jerry Yan as a pirate, Joe Cheng as a musician, and Michelle Chen and Ivy Chen as a pair of fraternal twin opera singers, I’m guessing we’re … Continue reading →
Hot off the presses comes the first ever look at the poster for the upcoming Choi Dong Hoon blockbuster heist movie The Thieves. Billed as the Asian version of Ocean’s Eleven, the cast of Korean and Hong Kong actors find themselves on opposite sides of a jewel heist at a Macao casino. Filming was shot on location in Macao last … Continue reading →
Ella’s wedding is fast approaching, and her star couldn’t be shining any brighter. She just had a hit movie last month with Zai Zai, and already she’s off promoting her upcoming movie Bad Girls with Mike He. The movie comes out in April and is billed as a rom-com where Ella plays a high school tough girl who gets roped … Continue reading →
It’s nice to be well established movie stars in Korea, because when they pair up and have a movie premiere, all your pretty and talented colleagues show up to support you. Love Fiction with Gong Hyo Jin and Ha Jung Woo held its celebrity-filled movie premiere this past weekend and it was a veritable who’s who of attendees. The movie is … Continue reading →
Director and actor Doze Niu‘s star-studded and long awaited movie LOVE finally gets its release this weekend just in time for Valentine’s Day. Six out of his eight big stars attended the lavish Taipei premiere to add some glamour to the proceedings. Only Vicky Zhao and Ethan Ruan were missing, with Eddie Peng, Mark Chao, Amber Kuo, Shu Qi, and … Continue reading →
Gong Hyo Jin has had a really balanced career, dividing her time between dramas and movies almost equally. Since wrapping Best Love last June, one of her most high profile and popular dramas, she headed back to Chungmuro to make the cute modern dating movie Love Fiction with the always reliably brilliant Ha Jung Woo. What a great pairing from … Continue reading →
I know I’ve been bitching about Han Ga In in The Moon that Embraces the Sun, but it’s not because I don’t like her. I loved her in Bad Guy, and even in her crappy dramas and/or performances, I’ve never grown annoyed with her much. She’s like this really pretty slightly detached wallflower in those situations. I was a little … Continue reading →
The arrival of Lunar New Year must also mean the arrival of another All’s Well That Ends Well movie from HK, the 2012 version being maybe the 12th iteration of it? I dunno, I’ve lost track, and have also lost plenty of brain cells watching these silly pieces of crap. The AWTEW movies are always chock full of big HK/C … Continue reading →
Before Ella filmed Perfect Two with Vic Zhou last Summer, she actually filmed another movie first, but said movie is getting a later release date. Pairing up with Mike He, Ella plays the titular head of the Bad Girls, a group of high school rough and tumble girls who form a gang to protect their little village from nefarious elements. … Continue reading →
