Acclaimed C-director Li Shao Hong‘s planned C-adaptation of the popular K-drama Heirs has been getting lots of attention in the last two months and for good reason. Heirs was hella popular in China and continued to build Lee Min Ho‘s popularity as well as vaulted Kim Woo Bin from unknown in the Chinese market to suddenly a buzzy new face. … Continue reading →
It’s not a stretch to say SETTV had the best outing among all the TW-networks in terms of raking in the dough from dramas in 2013. With Lunar New Year right around the corner, the network held it’s annual Year End Party (尾牙) this past Friday that brought together 1600 of its employees from corporate to production to famous stars … Continue reading →
This might be one of the cutest cases of meta-convergence of real life and reel life. Last week was the high profile C-celebrity wedding of C-actress Yang Mi and HK-actor Hawick Lau. It was a destination wedding in Bali and Yang Mi invited only one of her many celebrity friends and that was best friend Tang Yan who also served … Continue reading →
This is a bit like a wayback machine but the leads of In A Good Way have been red hot ever since the drama premiered two months ago so it’s adorable to find their more low key promotional pics from before the drama aired. Nowadays the fans and the press are itching to scrutinize every interaction between Lego Lee and … Continue reading →
All my gushing over In A Good Way on Friday nights makes it seem like the only TW-drama airing that night but there is actually The Pursuit of Happiness with Sonia Sui and Tony Yang over on GTV that just ended last Friday. TPoH was from the production team behind the popular hit In Time With You with Ariel Lin … Continue reading →
I have hundreds of beautiful headers all created by talented kindred spirits in the drama watching field and it’s a joy for me whenever I click on AKP to see which headers pops up. I hope it is for you, too. Some dramas (or actors/actresses) have more headers than others but the frequency by which I encounter them is by … Continue reading →
New TW-drama alert and I have to admit to waiting for this particular drama and its full casting confirmation for months and months now, ever since Joe Cheng was discharged from the army. Famed Taiwanese Director Winnie (Qu You Ning) had been prepping this drama for two years and when Joe revealed after his discharge that his first comeback project … Continue reading →
A new C-drama has just started filming this weekend and its something I’m totally looking forward to. I wrote about the upcoming Lady and Liar (千金女贼) with C-actress Tang Yan last month when it was announced as the next project by successful drama producer Chen Yu Shan after the ratings busting run of her last drama King of Lan Ling … Continue reading →
My adorable babies Lego Lee and Kirsten Jen are gracing the cover and main spread for January 2014’s issue of Spop Magazine (published by SETTV‘s drama production division) and the first teasers are out and they look soooooo cute I’m getting cavities. The photo spread is modeled after a throwback concept but not necessarily to the 90’s but will features … Continue reading →
I actually don’t care enough about the original Heirs to have a feeling either way about this other than rubbernecking curiosity but it certainly isn’t a surprise to hear that China is gearing up for a Heirs remake after buying the rights from SBS after the popular drama wrapped. The C-drama version will also be called Heirs (继承者们) but without … Continue reading →
Lego Lee has kinda got himself into a pickle while us fans of In A Good Way can start rubbing our hands together in glee. At last week’s SETTV celebration event, Lego vowed that when the drama ratings broke 3 he and other male lead Jay Shih would ride their old-school motorcycles used in the drama from the network headquarters … Continue reading →
There won’t be any new SETTV drama premiering in Taiwan from here until year end so the network has rolled out its annual Year End Drama Awards which is an audience vote prize that is clearly based on popularity. Other than unexpectedly falling madly in love with the just started In A Good Way, the only other SETTV drama I … Continue reading →
I don’t know what’s more awkward in this picture above? Kirsten Jen trying to dance climb her In A Good Way leading man Lego Lee, or the fact that while she is doing so her older sister Selena Jen is right there behind her? In terms of fame for the Jen sisters, its no shade on Kirsten to say that … Continue reading →
