Taiwan dramas hasn’t produced an onscreen drama couple quite as popular as Aaron Yan paired with Puff Guo in quite some time. The heydays of Joe Cheng–Ariel Lin or Rainie Yang–Mike He are long past, and occasionally there is a couple that takes their real life attraction and sells it in drama land like George Hu and Annie Chen. I … Continue reading →
New TW-drama alert, and this coming hot on the heels of Rainie Yang filming her first drama in three years and Joe Cheng‘s drama coming soon, I think an old school revival is headed our way. Mike He just started filming a new TW-drama called Bravely Say I Love You for the cable network CTI and will mark their first self-produced … Continue reading →
In my mind Rainie Yang has been an actress for so long that her three year long hiatus from acting felt like an eternity. I do like bits of her song book but her singing career isn’t as winning for me as her winsome animated acting. Her last drama was Drunken to Love You with Joseph Chang back in 2011, … Continue reading →
Oh noes, not another male lead fallen to the dreaded back injury! Last year Jung Kyung Ho injured his back towards the end of filming Cruel City and the poor guy endured through the drama wrapping before getting treatment. The first on set injury this year comes out of Taiwan as Lego Lee‘s old lumbar injury has flared up and … Continue reading →
I think I’m going to get an overdose of the 1930’s Shanghai era once the one-two punch of period C-dramas Cruel Romance and Lady and Liar when both hit the airwaves. It’s not just the setting that I love, I’m interested in both stories and following Cruel Romance with Chen Qiao En and Huang Xiaoming releasing a teaser last month, … Continue reading →
The nth drama adaptation of Return of the Condor Heroes (this one is going to have the 2014 year appended to it to distinguish it from the previous versions) is almost done filming and after four months I can say the long nightmare is wrapping to a close. Producer and troll Yu Zheng has been steadily releasing stills from the … Continue reading →
Sometimes Taiwanese entertainment news articles are hilariously eye-opening. It’s a combination of a wry sense of humor in the questions asked and the TW-stars being game to answer candidly. The media was on the set of the currently filming TW-drama You Light Up My Star with Janine Chang and Joe Cheng as the production was filming a big scene. The … Continue reading →
I can’t imagine there is any TW-drama viewer out there thinking it’ll be a great idea for Aaron Yan to pair up with Tia Li for a drama. Well, let me step back and say that I don’t know how it’s possible to even think it’s a great idea for Tia Li to keep acting in dramas in the first … Continue reading →
The cast of the upcoming period C-drama Cruel Romance worked through the Lunar New Year holiday break rather than take the customary time off just so the filming can squeeze in the final bits and call it a wrap. The drama is currently scheduled for a September airing which is great for fans to look forward to rather than languish … Continue reading →
New C-drama alert and this one looks interesting enough to catch my eye. Filming has just started for the period 1930’s Shanghai drama called Cruel Romance (Chinese title 锦绣缘华丽冒险 The Destiny of Jin Xiu’s Extravagant Adventure) starring C-actor Huang Xiaoming and TW-actress Chen Qiao En. Huang Xiaoming has been exclusively doing movies for the last five years though this past year in … Continue reading →
The main cast is complete for the C-drama Heirs (C-Heirs), which is NOT a remake of the Korean drama Heirs from last year but its own take on a bunch of emo heirs to billion dollar fortunes dealing with their pretty people angst. I enjoyed K-Heirs but the popularity of that drama is probably inversely proportional to the story actually … Continue reading →
It’s understandable that Lego Lee is the breakout star of In A Good Way and has reaped the most attention from the cast of the drama. Who the heck doesn’t love Liu Chuan? It’s harder to write female leads and Kirsten Jen‘s Jia En has taken me awhile to fully embrace, and it’s also clear Kirsten needed a bit more time … Continue reading →
The upcoming FTV cable network TW-drama You Light Up My Star has started filming and with it comes the first look at the intriguing drama produced and directed by acclaimed Taiwanese director Qu Yo Ning (Director Winnie). He’s worked with both Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng multiple times together in their most famous turns in the It Started with a … Continue reading →
