I was going to write a lighthearted Bu Bu Jing Xin post, but I don’t think I’m ready for that just yet (though it’ll be coming soon). I must clearly be a glutton for punishment because I rewatched the ending again, and am once again just blown away. I don’t think my summary and screepcaps do it justice, because the … Continue reading →
I finished Bu Bu Jing Xin today. All 35 episodes. Despite reading the novel beforehand, nothing can prepare a person to watch this story unfolding perfectly onscreen. The last ten episodes basically destroyed me. I’ve cried so much I need new tear ducts, I feel like my heart has been grinded into a pulp, and that pit in my stomach … Continue reading →
Somewhere between watching the latest episodes of Bu Bu Jing Xin (I’m up to episode 20 if anyone is curious) and reading the C-news, I came across this poster for the drama which just took my breath away. I love the juxtaposition of Ruo Xi’s face on the left with a minature of Zhang Xiao (her modern incarnation) on the right, … Continue reading →
There hasn’t been a single misstep in anything I’ve seen from the upcoming TW-drama Ring Ring Bell with Peter Ho and Janine Chang. I just like everything I’ve seen, from stills to all three teaser trailers. The latest one gives a glimpse of second male lead Xiu Jie Ke, who is a mighty fine actor and scene stealer in drama … Continue reading →
This just might be THE funniest behind-the-scenes picture I have ever seen in my life. Oh what a bunch of clowns populated the set of Bu Bu Jing Xin. For all my spazzing about the drama, this time I’m loving something that really is top-notch quality in all three requirements: acting, directing, and script. Some of you may find yourself … Continue reading →
Just a reminder that a new TW-drama is premiering this Sunday, the friends-turned-lovers In Time With You with Ariel Lin, Bolin Chen, Sunny Chan, and a slew of recognizable Taiwanese actors. At the helm is Director Winnie, making this his third collaboration with Ariel. FTV released a twenty-minute preview that is pretty detailed, and really connects with me purely on … Continue reading →
I’ve found myself toggling between four different drama worlds recently, the most expansive watch portfolio in recent memory. I only need to add a TVB drama from HK to complete the quintet (heard LoO is insanely addicting). I’ve been waiting for the drama-adaptation of Tong Hua’s internet time-travel novel Bu Bu Jing Xin since it started filming late last year, … Continue reading →
After posting about Bu Bu Jing Xin last night, I ended up kissing sleep goodbye and marathoning all the available episodes (10 out of 35 estimated episodes). I look like a very hideous raccoon this morning, but it was worth it. I haven’t loved a C-drama this much since LOCH2008, which surprise surprise, is also a Tangren production directed by … Continue reading →
I confess that I’m going to have a hard time deciding which drama to watch first every Sunday night once Ring Ring Bell premieres against In Time With You. Each teaser snippet of Peter Ho and Janine Chang makes me smile giddily with a doofy grin on my face. The drama itself looks like an Autumn’s Concerto without the whole … Continue reading →
Happy Chuseok to the folks in Korea, and an early Happy Zhong Qiu (Mid-Autumn) Moon Festival to the folks in Greater China. We’re one week away from the premiere of Ariel Lin and Bolin Chen‘s In Time With You on FTV. The cast held a media day this week to make moon cakes for the needy and the production donated … Continue reading →
Rumor has it that Mike He will be enlisting soon for his mandatory military service, so the newspapers are quick to report that he’s going out with a bang with his upcoming photo book Le Retour du Sud de la France. As the title gives away, Mike went to the South of France for the photo shoot, confirming for me … Continue reading →
Dramas oftentimes are not received equally by the local viewing population and the overseas brethren. It’s easy for each side to deride the other for having bad taste, but it’s not really that easy to explain. It’s more like people have different tastes, and that’s a good thing. Last year’s K-drama ratings champion Baker King Kim Tak Gu barely made … Continue reading →
It’s out! The upcoming TW/C drama Happy Michelin Kitchen with Blue Lan and Cheryl Yang (the final part of the Happy trilogy of dramas) has just released it’s 30-minute trailer promptly as it wrapped filming this week. This drama is progressing on the exact same schedule as it’s predecessor Sunny Happiness, and will air simultaneously in Taiwan and China next … Continue reading →
